My cleaner shrimp is pregnant

It's very difficult to raise them. Takes well over 100 days and lots of effort, and even those that succeed on occasion only get 1 through to metamorphosis. A search of this forum should bring up a thread by Louis, one of the very few people that has has any success.

They will spawn every 2 weeks & it is difficult & a lot of work. I have raised peppermint shrimp which is the easiest of all the shrimp & at 10 months only 2 are alive.

I believe the larval stages is what makes most shrimp species a royal pain to raise. Best of luck, but I believe you'll probably just have free fish food.

that really stinks! she got prego in my little tank and when i moved them to my 125 the male died and about a month later i got another one and now she is prego again! but if its so hard then i wont bother!

Their is no male. They both carry eggs since they fertilize each others eggs.

Not so much that there is no male, or female for that matter, but rather they are hermaphrodites. So they are both male and female :D Of course this assuming the Lysmata sp. cleaner shrimp and not the Stenopus sp.
