My Clown bites!!

I just find it funny. Everytime I stick my hand in the tank my oscellaris clown bites me. He started just biting me on the hand but here lately he goes for the soft skin inbetween my fingers. He'll bite and shake like a dog.lol

Anybody else have any biting fish?
 
Had an oscellaris that would do this too. I think they are just bigs looking for food anywhere they can. Funny when they do it tho :D
 
That's funny. Clowns can be so goofy sometimes. :D I do have a cleaner shrimp that loves to give me a manicure though. ;)

my snowflake eel use to bite me to. she didn't harm me since she was 10" long only. but I always had feed her until she learn.
 
mine don't bite persay but are very determined to get their food :P

lol. Given that they aren't exactly "drag cars" of the fish world, it gave me the image of a bunch of import tuner "type R" hack jobs.
 
I learned it the hard way yesterday when I was cleaning the tank. A hammer coral frag fell close to the Nem my clowns were hosting and I put my hand in to take it out of there. Sure enough my female Black Oce. bit me several times. I tried to shoo her away but she was determined to get my hand off her nem. Amazing how they bond with the Nem despite the fact that it was ORA tank breed.
 
My female oscellaris was always very friendly until the pair starting spawning. Now if I dare even think about putting my hands (or anything for that matter) in the tank within 20" of their spawning site, Watch Out! She's vicious...I kinda miss her nice manners.
 
Almost 15 years ago I would go into a pet shop in Sioux City, IA and in one of their reef tanks was a fish that would literally come to the top of the tank and squirt water about 3 inches out of the water. I can in no way remember what the fish even looked like, I was 12 at the time, but it was almost as if the fish was playing a game. Whereever you would move your hand the fish would follow and squirt water.

I think that is the exact time that I knew eventually I would accquire a saltwater tank. 15 years later and I will be acheiving my dream within a year. Used to have about 1500 gallons worth of FW and we had Oscars that would brush against your arm almost like a cat, and others that would try to take your thumb and eat it.
 
Yes, puffers and triggers will often spit water. And as far as clown bites, I've had Clarkiis and Tomatos actually draw blood before. Not so cute.
 
My Maroon clown will try to take a nip at me sometimes when I am cleaning in the tank. Never draws blood, but it always freaks me out.

Possibly an Archer Fish (brackish). They spit water and have a long snout - but silver and black. I had a pair, they'd "shoot" crickets off the logs I had in the marsh tank.

My clown would draw blood too. Had to use turkey baster in one hand to chase her away while reaching in with the other hand to do whatever I needed to do.
