my six year old female clown has white cotton-like spots on one side of her body. her 3 year old mate is showing no signs. She had a spot on her a day ago but it seems the cleaner shrimp took care of it. today when the tank came on i noticed about 4-5 large spots on her. The clowns are the only fish in a 40 breeder. Water is crystal and parameters are good. SG1.025 ammonia 0.0 nitrates 0.0 ph 8.2 dkh 9 cal 400 phosphates 0 you name it its good. tank has been set up for 6 months and has the livestock from a 29 gallon that was set up for about 5 1/2 years that had one breakout of ich several years ago. Where did this disease come from? I have recently added a few new corals and due to a thermostat malfunction i have been having temp swings from 76-80 during the day. I also add a 2part solution daily and have recently started dosing lugols which i have been dosing a little less than the suggested amount. Can anyone tell me what this is and a good way to take care of it? Thanks.

LETS GO CUBBIES:D

my fish are still eating and seem happy. Does anyone think ill be ok just improving the diet of my fish or will they need to be quarantined for treatment. they mostly eat flake food and frozen brine. i know this isnt ideal but i just got some ora pellets and some selcon so mixed a bunch of that stuff up and they seem to enjoy it. should i also add some vitamin c or garlic? if this just appeared a couple days ago, how much time do i have before its too late? The clowns respirations seem to be up. im starting to worry a little.

The Cubbies rule!!!! woooohoooooo!!! anywho my clowns have made marked improvement in the last 24 hrs im just going to keep stuffing their guts with my flake, brine, pellet soaked in selcon mix. Hopefully theyll be looking forward to seeing the Cubs in the world series next year!

LETS GO CUBBIES!!!

Respirations down fewer white spots. I'd still like an id of this i know it is common.

Im thinking about asking Ryan Dempster to marry me hes so freakin awesome.

they were cotton like spots. i thought i had what was ich 3 years ago which were smaller and did not seem to be as large as these other spots. the fish seem very happy now. the spots have flattened out now and the cubbies look to have a pretty solid squad for the coming season. i think i just need to feed my fish better though this is the first time they have been sick in years. Thanks for the response bluetanggirl no takers for over 24 hours. Your lucky that you live not too far from Wrigley Field, home of the chicago cubbies.

OH MY GOD!!!! THIS HAS TO BE THE YEAR!!!!!! LETS GO CUBBIES!!!!!

That selcon is great. For the actual frozen food, have you looked into PE Mysis Shrimp? This shrimp has 69.5% crude protein content! Yes, soaking the food in Garlic-X is another great way to help the fish's immunity. The manufacturer suggests to soak the food for 10-12 hours. Basically, you want the fish to ingest this Garlic-X...The longer your soak the food, the better.

Good luck, CubsFan!
