I Have two clown fish one male and one female, and they get along great. But there is one problem they dont go near my rose anemone. Is there something wrong, or will they go near with time?

if you just recently put the anemone in the tank.. give the clowns sometime to find it and explore it.. if not. then there is a couple tricks you can do.. but dont worry .. id let the anemone get adjusted to your tank before the clowns invade it..

has nothing to do with t.r. or not :) Just their preference and that can actually be learnt through observing others 'host'

I know that alot of tr clowns will not host due to the fact they have never even seen a anemone so they have no idea what to do w/ it.

They will, just give them time. My tank raised BW ocellaris is being hosted by a BTA after a day of introduction.

I have t.r. maroon that jump immediately into a gbta right after introduced to the reef tank (never seen an anemone), others takes awhile to learnt it.

Easiest way to introduce is through observation, if they see other clownfish use the anemone, they will get the idea.

Give it time. Some more time than others.

I got a long tent. nem today for my GSM pair, went to work, came back and the female was and still is buried in her new nem!

It's a beautiful sight!! Good luck to you.

This is largely untrue. I don't want to get into a long debate about it, as it's been argued in other threads quite extensively, but the truth (far as anyone can tell, anyways) of the matter is, when put in captivity, even Wild clowns refuse to host, and the reason is (CB and WC alike) because we try to force them to host in anemones they don't naturally host. Not to mention the stresses of captivity.

The only reason I even bother to bring this up is because I'm afraid that new hobbyists might get the wrong idea about captive bred clowns. :)

I have two allardi clowns and used to have sebae nem...they loved it death, it was too small for the two of them. I've waiting..feels like forever..for a good size RBTA. We brought it home last Thursday and watched the two clowns just look at it...you could tell they were observing. The female more than the male. All of a sudden...5:30am my husband woke me up and said the female is in the nem....(he was on his way to work at that time) The nem was placed in the tank and moved to a location not great to view. Since we didn't want to disturb it we just moved the rock it was attached to to be a better viewing spot. WEll we should have just let it alone bc it moved right back to where it was the first time. I've learned,...patience is primary and let the nem be where it wants to. It's so amazing to watch her in it I hope the male will join it soon ! Good luck to you too

I have a pair of tank raised gold stripe maroons. I added a saddle carpet and the next day she was all nustled down in it, its been three months now and the little male is right along side her in the nem. I agree with the others, give them time and let them go at their own pace you can not rush nature. enjoy watching the transition, its one of the cool things about your salt tank.
