I bought a tank raised false perc clown 7 days ago and it has not eaten (as far as I can tell). I have tried flake food and pellets (the same pellets he was fed at the LFS) both plain and soaked in garlic. I have also offered him scallop bits without success. He usually ignores the food and when he does go for the food, he takes it into his mouth, spits it out, and then swims away.

My first clown died from brooklynella one month ago. Since that time, I did not have any fish in the tank for about 4 weeks. I figured that was enough time for all possible parasites to dies off. I also did a freshwater dip for this clownfish about 2 days ago. He doesn't have any visable lesions on his body. My tank is a 30 gal reef. He is the only fish in there. Anybody have suggestions or ideas? I don't want the poor guy to starve to death.

Is baby brine shrimp easy to get? I don't want him used to eating live food if I can help it.

you can get frozen baby brine shrimp at petsmart, or maybe your lfs.... but your fish won't feed on them for long, they are 'very' small. also try frozen daphnia. they are just very small, even my 3" female will eat them, but still they are small.

After I got my young one eating it will eat, also, brine shrimp....

Still won't eat mysis.....

Good Luck.

Feed cyco-ezze my fish would not eat and then i gave them that and some mysis soaked in the cyco-ezze. And they eat it all in about mintutes.

yeah, I have got two new tank raised ocellaris and cyclo-eeze worked really well. its been a few days and now they are beginning to eat some frozen mysis. Alot of tank raised clowns arent always fed traditional hobby food so it takes some ajustment. I havent found alot of success with clowns and flavor additives but they have to be trained to eat ... and once they are, they are pigs!

goodluck in spartanburg!!!, check out aquarium oddities in maudrin if you have a chance, best in the upstate. I drive an hour from clemson and it is worth it! Goodluck

Thanks Poorcollegreef, that's actually where my fish came from and I was over there today buying some cyclopeese. Unfortunately, the clown didn't eat it either.

I think my clown has internal parasites - he has white stringy poop hanging from his bottom. What is the treatment for that?

ok, well im not sure about any method of treating for internal parasites try the Fish Disease Treatment forum. Also talk to chuck at AO for some help
