My clownfish wont eat

Any special tricks to get a fish to eat. My clown fish hasnt eaten much the last two days. Yesterday he ate one single mysis shrimp and today doesnt seem to want to touch food. He still has a gash on his lip from banging it. Seems his jaw has seen better days, but it happened about a week and a half agao and hasnt stopped him from eating. I have been monitoring him more then the other fish because of this. And lately he doesnt want food. He is active and not skinny. But i want to try and fix the issue if there is one before he gets skinny and sickly. Any ideas? I have tried a combination of brine mysis and flake, even tried to dissolve some garlic (broke a garlic pill open) in the water and put the food in that first.

Thanks

the first night i put him in the tank, he ran into a rock and gashed his lip. It has been healing.

Then let it heal, don't worry about him eating for a few more days.

If you gashed your lip, and were forced food, would you eat it, even though your in pain?

Sound like to me that he just wants to get healed up befor he eats.I know when some clowns get damaged(mine never have)they will not eat for a day or 2.I have read that some clowns will not eat for a while and will just scavange for fopod in the reef tank while we are not looking!

It takes weeks for a fish to starve. A few days or even a week of not eating won't hurt him if its just taking time to heal.

Mine went a week without eating when I first got him and he had no injuries. Hopefully yours will do as well as mine did.

Thats good to hear... I just added my first Falsie to my tank and I have tried to feed him some flake and freeze dried shrimp over the past 2 days... he seems to pick only at certain pieces of the flake and doesnt particularly like the shrimp though... I was chalking it up his mind blowing up since he was in a chain FS for a WHILE in an empty 10g and now he is in a full blown 44g reef with all sorts of LR to cruise around in...

Don't worry. He's getting acclimated to his new surroundings, new food, etc. Give him time, don't worry.
