Its common popeye ... not as serous as the other ... could heal its self.
I might put it in med's for the day you are there to watch it & return it to the tank while you are gone. Its a tough call since you wont be there to monitor the fish either way.
I was just suggesting another possibility. I'd not Qt as i agree with puter, if its one eye its probably not a viral/bacterial problem, but if you do want to qt try to use a container to get the fish out as a net could damage the eye further.
It will usually heal by itself but you can cure it instantly with a small syringe. I have done it dozens of times on my fish and fish in dealers tanks. Just hold the fish in a net and stick a sryinge into the membrane at the edge of the eye,(not the eye itself)
suck out the fluid and the eye will immediatly return back to where it is supposed to be.
A lot of people are afraid to do this but if your eye was hanging out like that and someone could cure it in 5 seconds, would you do it?
I never lost a patient.
Good Luck.
Paul
ok paul, walk me through this. i get my fish into a net, for say, then after that ..i take a small turkey baster..will that work? and put it to the bottom of the eye and then it will start oozing out? no im not ganna do this till you respond back lol. thanks for the help guys
I have no answers on the condition, but I know my perc would get stressed in the tank and then he would get popeye in one eye. Which did cure on its own when I removed the other fish that would stress him out...
3fins, I strongly suggest that you DO NOT attempt needle drainage- this is for a trained vet. Play it safe. One eye or both, trauma or bacterial- tx with antibiotics. One eye affected can still be bacterial in origin. And trauma to an eye can easily progress to a secondary bacterial infection.
Get that fish in a QT and start tx asap. The longer it is left to chance to heal, the greater the risk that your fish will lose that eye, die all together, or spread the infection to others if they are susceptible.
K guys I QT him, and now his eye is back to normal.
Sorry i havent been on to reply, I did not end up using the drainage needle, but only QT for a couple days.
Again, thanks for your help with this..

Ill give you my story around a year ago while I had my clarkii.
Well at the time my maroon kicked my clarkii out of his bta.
My koran angel kept harrasing the crap out of him. He got pop eye and I went to my LFS and they told me to give him a freshwater dip. That didn't work. They told me to get him a nem and they said that the nems mucus was like an antibiotic and that it would cure its pop eye problem. I took the nem home and it hosted it straight away. After one week wallah it had worked.
I got pop eye once or twice after that but it went back to normal. Do you have a nem. If no try that way.
