My clowns need a place to call home!!

Ok I have tried long enough to resist one of the most impressive symbiotic relationship our tanks offer. I need some advice from anemone lovers.
I have a very small 16 gallon Nuvo (probably 14) if you take out the refugium that is packed with zoanthids and 2 snowflakes.

I'm looking for a nem guys any recommendation? Here are my ideal "dream" criteria:

1) an anemone that doesn't sting and/or kill everything in the tank or eat my clowns(I have some nice zoa colonies I want to keep).
2) doesnt really have to look that impressive I think most nems look good.
3) one that stays put
4) primarily photosynthetic would be advantageous for waste managment.

I am also open to other hosting options if there are any like hammers or frogspawn.

the tank is really too small for anemone. your best shot is probably a malu. i once had a green tip one--looked gorgeous

or you can try an alternative symbiotic relationship--condy anemone with shrimps. they look gorgeous too

3) one that stays put

I am also open to other hosting options if there are any like hammers or frogspawn.

#3 - good luck with that. They move until they feel "comfortable" (the right light with the right flow - all determined by the 'nem). Until this happens, there's no controlling it.

Hammers and Frogspawn are corals that clowns may host. However, clowns can and will host a lot of other corals as well, it just depends on the clown...

Here's a thread for corals that clowns will host:

I think the only option yo have is a H. malu. They stay on the sand bed and stay small. Only H. aurora is smaller but Aurora only host baby clowns.
Either anemone need sand bed at least 2 inches. My Ocellaris and Percula hosted by my Malu without problem.
Below is a picture of one of my Malu with my Onyx Percula (female) and Snowflake Ocellarist (male)

Thank you all! I will look into H Malu. And wow I didnt realize clowns would host just about anything. I have a baby toadstool in the tank now that is growing like I pulled it from a nuclear power plant so it may work soon enough.

I think the H Malu is out because all of my zoas are mostly sitting on the sand bed. not much for rock work only a few columns in the back of the tank. I guess my questions should be tailored to: which coral is the most reliable/best host for a pair of clown fish? Preferably something that can easily be mounted atop a rock. Also, it cant occupy too much space as in producing a canopy over the zoas below.

Could just move the zoas up and get the Malu?

They will host just about anything you'd like to put in there for them. Green hairy mushroom maybe?

My Malu stay at the same place and have never moved. They are fairly easy to keep in compare to other anemone. As long as your tank is stable they will be fine. Keeping a 16 gal tank stable is easier said than done especially temp and salinity

Where I work, we have a Nuvo 16 with a Bubble Tip that did great in there. It did move around but for whatever reason did not sting anything (even when it was snuggled against 'em).

My tank is set up with 4 vertical column rocks and the zoas are all over the bottom covering it like a lawn. Its also a barebottom. I guess Ill try some hairy shrooms see how that goes.
