my corals keep dying!!!

i have done so much research. and i research every one before i get it. i look up placement and flow and lighting and water quality. i don't understand what i am doing wrong. every single one has died on me. i simply don't get it. can anyone give me any advice?

tank size is 120, has been running for over 6 years, has mars full spectrum led lighting. i had 3 lights i changed to 2 someone told me i had to much light. i have an rodi filter and only use filtered water. i do a water change of 15-20% once every 2 weeks. and i have tried all kinds and types. i can't get anything to stay alive let alone grow.

yeah i acclimate it, it lives for a few months but then it just starts to die. and id have to go test to give you exact numbers. i can do that tomorrow. at the moment its almost 1 am

its to the point i can't even keep xenia or kenya trees alive and I'm told those are pretty much impossible to kill what so ever

Without water paramaters and knowing if they are stable its really hard to say. If your trying corals you should have your own set of testing supplies. Phosphate, nitrate, cal, alk, mag, and salinity. This way you can check daily to know if everything is staying stable or if something is jumping around.

Has the tank even been treated with medications?

i have a test kit i do it twice a week. i will be testing it after work to give you guys numbers but everything as far as i can tell has staid in safe levels. i have never had any problems with that stuff.

what is a polly filter?

Can you dim your LEDs? Is there a chance that a contaminate got into your system?
When you say filtered water, is it R/O at least?
Where did you get your rock and sand from?

And describe what is happening with the corals and types of coral you are putting in and what other inhabitants. Bleaching, tissue dieoff, receding?

Poly filter, Poly Filter.

If you are having this much trouble then something is obviously off. As others have said, without the hard numbers then no one can really help you. But the poly filter will either eliminate possible issues by not changing color or point you in the right direction by changing colors.

:)

okay here we go.
PH-8.0
phosphate is a little high at 1.0
calcium is at 500ppm
carbonate hardness is 196ppm
nitrate-60ppm before this weeks water change
nitrite-0ppm
alkalinity-230ppm

so a few of my numbers are off right now but that's simply because i had given up on corals and stuff so i have gotten a little lax on water changes and such. i could easily bring them back into check by revamping my refugium which i am working on today and keeping up with my water changes.

any advice would be helpful now that you have my numbers. i do have 2 pieces of cabbage in my tank right now. that stuff is ugly but seems to be thriving

The cabbage likes the dirty water. If you did say a 20% water change once a week for the next two weeks your water would straighten out and the numbers would fall in line where they need to be

i do a 20% every 2 weeks. like i said i could fix the out of wack numbers easily if i kept up with it but i had given up on the coral thing cause i have some many issues and have lost so much money. i have no idea what im doing wrong.

Wow, I can feel for ya, failure is a bummer for sure. What do you have in the tank now? Any fish ? Any shrimp? Macro algae? Tell us what is living, it may help figure out the real problem.
Also what is the water temp? if it's too hot or too cold that could slowly kill most corals.

With more information I bet we can figure it out.

There are some corals that will tolerate some problems have you tried any mushrooms ? Some types of gorgonian are very hardy also.
List the ones that have failed and what is alive and the water temp
That is a start.

this is what is in there right now.
2 bubble tip nems....both are healthy and growing. one split not long ago
1 sailfin tang
1 hippo tang
2 maroon clowns
1 flame angel
2 puffers
one bang card

i have the cabbage, a tiny piece of sponge a friend gave me, one half dead mushroom and two small toadstools. the toadstools i have had about a year. neither have grown at all and they like never open up.

my water temp i keep at 78deg and most of my tank has moderate flow.

corals i have tried.
pipe organ it think its called
xinea
different mushrooms
torch coral
duncan coral
gord
purple sea whip i think its called
zoas
frog something looks like a hammer
hammer
i had a few leathers
a feather duster
there are a few more but im not sure of their names. im a complete coral failure.

i think i answered all that you asked of me.

hmm one thing is that puffer and flame angel can go after corals, any chance they harass and nibble on the corals and that leads to the loss ??

possibility.
