My crocea WON"T stop moving...

This thing is driving me crazy. I bought it to be the center of attention in my tank and leaped three seperate times off the rock. Ok, its not happy. So I moved it to the tank bottom (not much room since I have a hex) so it might acclimate. Now it has semi buried itself and pressed itself up against my glass with half the mantle pressing against the glass when it expands. You can't see it worth a darn.

I've been brainstorming on ways I can place it back on the rock and keep it there whether it likes it or not. One idea I wanted to run by experience clam keepers to see what you thought. My idea would be to cut a piece of PVC plastic pipe. One thought would be to cut one large enough to keep the clam suspended off the rock, however that would not allow it to attach. The other thought would be to cut one that really circles the entire clam keeping it on the rock. Kind of like a fence around the clam until it attaches. It would have to be much, maybe a quarter of an inch thick. I can't see it taking much more than that. I would just have to live with it for a while because it would be ugly.

What are folk's thoughts? I've got to get this thing onto the rocks. It does no good for it to be on the sand. I realize it is moving cause it might not be so happy but in this circumstance I'm the boss and that is where I want it.:bum:

I never knew clams moved purposely...? I thought just through their opening and closing they dislodge themselves ??

Is this true?

Russ- I'd temporarily "fence" your crocea in {so it can't jump around} with rubble or a large PVC pipe "ring". Make sure to allow the bottom of the clam to touch the rockwork so it can eventually attach.

This is one heck of a stubborn clam. I had it in the sand with a rock underneath it to attach to. It did attach so I moved it to where I wanted it. It detached and fell down between the rocks. I have looked at trying to 'fence' it in some how. No luck with that yet. It is now back on the sand. It has moved now that when its mantle opens it touches my trachphyllia brain. Should I be concerned that the brain could sting the clam?
