my DIY ER/H&S skimmer-1260

Well I got an idea from this thread http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=849968&perpage=25&pagenumber=1 so I went ahead and bought a ehiem1260 pump(similar to the H&S) and moddified it to work with the ER needle wheel and impeller. So afther about 2day of thinkering and messing with it I have finaly got it to where I want it to be. So here are some picture of it. The skimmer body is a ER6-2+, the needle wheel is from the sedra 5000. I am getting 8.5-9lpm or 510-540lph. I think it is working realy well and i hope once I get the h&s venturi it will work better. well enough with the words here are some pictures

Yeah I'd like to see what the h&s venturi would get you on the air intake. I've tested my stock sedra 5000 and got about 10lpm. My friends dedra 5000 got 13lpm.

Are you talking about my Sedra5000 Raskall311. talking about the bubble counter. i need to test my pump again.

MChava, the bubble look kind of big, can you adjust the venturi to make it a little smaller? I got the same size bubble with my ER without the valve. i got the valve to adjust the air intake and it getting really small.

Hey Kevin I tested my stock sedra 5000 and I am only getting 5-6. Are you sure the air intake is ready right. I've tested different pumps from sedra and they are all about the same.

Steve the bubble are alot smaller then the sedra pump. They look large but the screw driver is only 1/8". I still have not played around with the venturi since I need to make a better one and wait till I get the one I ordered from Finreef.

Hey loc I still want to go a little bigger then a 1/4 hose but I have not yet done it. So far its out performing the sedra5000 by a lot. Iam goint to try a 3/8 hose and see what happens. Hey I got the circle cutting attachement for the dremel today. It was 29.99 for a kit that includes alot of other attachments. I will see how well this one work and will let you know

Loc consider eheim pushing 500+ liters of air per hour and Sedra 5000 pushing 468+- liters of air per hour. one cost a buck fifty the other cost 300, did you see the different now. If eheim and Sedra have the same performance why did people buy the H&S or deltec vice Euro-Reef.

Hey Steve, this is not a $300 one. This is a regular hobby pump with a sedra needle wheel mod.

I still need to play with it some more. Hey Loc do you have any 4" acrylic tube? I want to put a second chamber on my CA reactor Let me know.

I should be free around Noon. call me 714 254 5671. I like the eheim but cost too much for my taste. Specially now i am running 3 RC pumps. Imagine how much it will cost for me to change all three pumps.

this is exactly what i want to do only with a 1262! do you know if the 1260 and the 1262 have the same impeller diameter?
