i guess none of you have noticed but bill is running those without the air pumps on them. he had an air pump but it was defective right out of the box. so he couldnt hook it up. he is working feaverishly to get the cone glued onto the flange so it can be bolted on and then raise the water level in the skimmer. the head pressure will cause the pumps to suck alot less air until he gets the air pumps on it. then watch out! if you knotice the top of the water looks almost dead calm too. thet defuser plate is doing its job very well.

Beautiful job Bill!

I was wondering what your gluing method is Bill. You mentioned that you keep soaking your joints in Weld On for a long while before letting the pieces settle. How do you do this without getting the WO all over your work??
Thanks, and cant wait to see that road cone when you get it done. Next, you can go to the mall and get one of those 4' cones that you roll your quarters into for charity:D

I notice a few pins from the nw laying on the bottom so I removed th erigh hand pump and it was running wwith no pins on the outside ring , worked pretty good without them , putting them back now .

oops! i guess you forgot to check the head clearance on that one. nothing a sander cant take care of. ha ha ha ha

you know bill now im going to be up all night waiting for updates on big bad bertha.

by the way i figured out how to cut the cones for the rowaphos reactors so they will glue into the bottom of the tubes. the bad thisng is that the tubes are so far off from one end to the other that you have to mill the cones for the exact tube the cone is going into. will post a pic for ya later. this is the expermental one im building for energy. its smaller than the one you want to build but its 2 ft tall.

It works alot better with all the pins on the wheel . Ill have th cone on tommarow and running .The water level is 3 inches from th etop and its still pulling tons of air .

well bill those are some very impressive pictures. the one with the pipe in the skimmer is nice. it shows how dence the bubbles really are. you must have put some tank water in there. that thing looks like a keg of beer with that head of foam on it. but i think it will be even more impressive with the air pump on it.

i noticed by the pics that the water level with the bubbles are about 3in taller than it is in the first pic. that a huge amount of air if you consider the cross section of the main tube. that must be about 15 gallons of air in the water. this is getting better and better by the day. i think i need to send down my watt meter so you can get an idea of wattage on those bad boys. i bet your under 250 watts right now. but if you consider the amount of air being injectoed into that main body thats a ton of air for the watts. but not good enough. the air pumps will increase the overall effecienty of the skimmer by 200%

WOW:, 200% more comming WOW WOW!:eek1: Brother that is a ture bubble pump. great job. 3"+ rise wow, that air / water ratio is extremly impressive. cant wait to see how much rise you'll get when you put the air pumps on. Bill do you have a flow meter on that air intakes?
BRAVO! :D

I am begining to hate you man. I seriously am.................. Just impressive as it gets :D :D :D

Beginning????

Nice work....... :eek2:

Bill, based on what I am seeing and looking a little bit ahead, you may run into the same problem I am having and that is too much air and foam for your collection cup. I realize that your cup is huge but Imagine that head going into the riser and coming out the top. I don't know what your design specs. are for relieving the air volume but it is something you should consider if you haven't already. I have two large vent lines on mine and it still isn't enough.

I have essentially the same height riser tube and similar clearance in the cup and I think you may need more clearance between the top of the riser and the top of the cup. Of course I am not looking at it in person so just a guess on my part.

Is your drain line the in waste collection cup going to be hooked to a 55gal drum?

Truely impressive work. Nice job!

I'd drain straight to sewer. =P Put a sprinkler head in the top of the collection cup to spray the crud out daily. ;) Wicked skimmer. Now you need a Spazz wet neck mod. ;) Truly automated then.

drool.......

carman you will get to see one of these when i start building energys skimmer. i might need help getting it through his doorway in the fish room. i just wanted to make sure all the little kinks are out of bills before i tackle energys skimmer. allthough i dont thing there will be any. the only thing i can think of that might be a problem is the riser tube size. bill might need to go to 8" for the riser tube. i might go with 8" on energys skimmer just to see the difference in performance.
