My DIY skimmer

Well, this is my second attempt at a DIY skimmer. The first was made from PVC, and was junk. This one is constructed from my wife's spaghetti jar. (Had to buy her a new one). The collection cup is an upside down 50 pack cd spindle. Makes a great cup. The lid is twist-lock. The unit is powered by a powerhead 802, center drilled for the air line. Skimmate is very wet at the moment. These pics were taken after 1/2 hr in operation. I had a PVC 3/4" gate valve on the return, but it prooved to be too much restriction, and filled the collection cup with water immedatley, so it was removed. There is NO control on the water return, so water level is controlled with the restrictor plate inside the powerhead. I still have a LOT of tuning to do, but it appears it is going to work well. Heres the pics:

Very cool idea, That cd case looked really cool when I saw it the other day. What tank do you have that on? Is that the 75? I did not think you had the sump on it? Keep us updated.

nah, its on my reef. I did however put the seaclone on the 75g.. it is pulling a little muck... which is good for a sea-clone. I did the bio ball needle wheel mod to it. Made quite a difference.

Overnight skim... Its getting a little better. Still very wet, but darker in color. This was pulled in about 12 hours last night with it. I guess it didnt need much of a break in... still tuning it though.. Heres the cup:
