My duncan dumbness??

As if that is grammatically correct, but I thought I would share what I have been doing with my duncans. I got 2 heads at the end of march. Until the end of June I had produced just one head. Well, here is what I was doing, keeping the flow on, and trying to use a turkey baster to get a mysis into their mouths, difficult and stupid. Then I started turning off the powerheads and using cyclops to feed. Now, in two months, two new heads. So the lesson here boys and girls is no flow and cyclops, now go enjoy your recess.

LOL...I didn't know that either. I got 2 heads (and maybe a 3rd?) on Saturday morning. I've been feeding it mysis with tweezers - mine's a piggy...

I found that duncans like medium flow,

the flow thing refers to feeding them, I usually left the powerheads on, now I dont

Best way to feed them I have found is to attach some airline to a 20cc syringe... Very direct feeding a mixture of 1 cube mysis with 1 pinch of cyclopeeze AFTER fish, crabs have already been feed

I started with 1 ( had a whole bunch, tank almost crashed lost all my greens) moved the yellow/lavender that was left alive into a QT with gentle flow and left it alone for 4 weeks till the mouth regrew... after that I fed it dried mini krill... in 2 months now have 14 heads... I keep flow on while I feed.. I use a feeding tong and just place the krill on a tentacle till it grabs...

I might just leave him in the QT with only 2 small T8s or something

I have my first Duncan and got it at the RAP in August. I bought one head and it already has 2 small new heads and 2 little additional heads beginning to form. I heard they grew fast but wasn't expecting that. Mine is in my frag tank under PC's with medium flow and seems to prefer a small piece of flake food daily and some pods now and then. Maybe after it grows more I'll try a piece in my display tank.

I found that duncans like medium flow, but more importantly, just leave them alone and don't disturb them.

I've find that to be true with just about every coral :D

set it and forget it

Duncans aren't a particularly hard coral to care for ime. yeah i find the turning off of the pumps really helps. I started with a single head and after six months, it has eight heads last i counted.

they grow pretty fast if fed. without food, they'll still do fine but grow much slower. i only feed mine mysis, sometimes soaked in selcon, havent tried cyclopeeze yet.
