Mine would do that as he knew I was going to give him some food lol. Every time I would walk by the tank he would come out and stretch his arms for some food. Spoiled little guy!

What did you feed him? He did his job on bubble algae time for me to start feeding him and de - escalate tensions lol.

I bought some Crab Cuisine from Foster and Smith which I throw in the tank about once every 10 days or so. I would take one out and put it on the end of my tongs and feed it to him. Sometimes I'd feed him cut shrimp when i was feeding my anemones. He was a very fun crab for sure!

That behavior is actually a defensive mechanism of theirs. When they feel threatened, they extend their arms out to show how big they can be and scare off predators. Mine of the past used to do this whenever someone would walk by the tank or I would have my hand in the tank. This has nothing to do with wanting food.

Yes the are the sinking kind. Slow sinking though and the fish get most of them before they can get to the sand bed.

I had one that would climb on the back of one of my big mexican turbos and rid him all the way to the top of the tank, and jump off.... and do it again.

I always fed mine some nori strips, and cut up shrimp. he didn't like the shrimp so much as the nori.

Mine also did the same behavior, always thought he was looking for food, not a defense mechanism.
