My experience with KOMODOAQUARIUM.COM, Please rate these online sellers

Hello Everyone

I recently bought fish from komodoaqurium.com and I was pleasantly surprised with them. The total shipment weight was 27 lbs, and the fish came with plenty of water. None of the fish were tired; but, they were alert and wary, and started eating right out of the bag. The price point of this store is really awesome. I bought a pair of masked swallowtail angelfish for $89 each. Unbelievable.
I have been looking for a online saltwater fish seller who sells fish at a reasonable rate ,and; most of all, I want a seller that ships fish with lot of water so that the fish not only survives through the night but also comes alert and brisk when you open the shipping bag. I don't like to see super tired fish because the seller decided to use less water to save some money on shipping. I found the seller who ships fish with lot of water and it is Komodoaquarium.com. Here are the Pros:
  1. fish ships with lot of water
  2. no DOA's I mean literally no dead fish
  3. excellent cheap price
  4. healthy fish
  5. all the ordered fish were shipped in one single shipment, and none missing
  6. arrives promptly before 10:30 a.m. guaranteed
  7. excellent website where it keeps the record of your order history (even liveaquaria.com does not have this feature)
I Would Rate komodoaquarium.com 9/10 even after my very positive experience with them, and here is why I took off one point:
  1. shipment comes with "Signature Required," god knows what will happen if you are not home. Will they take back the box ,and will the fish end up dying at the shipping company's facility?
  2. no 15 day guarantee but they do guarantee to arrive alive, and that's enough for me though
  3. No phone number available on website, but a very nice guy will call you to update the info on your order, so one has to be patient

In my experience Liveaquaria.com is ok but not great, but when you compare liveaquaria.com to Bluezooaquatics.com, then Liveaquaria.com is awesome.
My overall rating for liveaquaria.com is 7 out of 10. The reason I took 3 points out is for the following reasons:
  1. high price
  2. all fish don't come alert
  3. some items are available while you place the order, but won't be shipped very often setting you up for disappointments
Yes, I will buy fish from Liveaquaria.com because very few DOA's, and ships with moderate to good amount of water, and I'm marginally satisfied with them. Fish does come tired but alive, and acclimation usually feeds the fish its life back into its body.

I would rate Bluezooaquatics.com 4 out of 10, here are the reasons
  1. price used to be cheap but now they on par with liveaquaria
  2. very little amount of water in the shipping bags becoming the reason for very high DOA's
  3. Fish comes with marine ich and all kinds of diseases
  4. just way too many DOA's which is very sad
Acclimation won't do squat because fish will be dead or seriously ill/sick with ich or uronema Marinum when you open the shipment. One of the hippo blue tang introduced ich into my quarantine tank, and I had to treat the system with CP. You may end up losing your existing fish in your tank if you buy from bluezooaquatics.

I would rate saltwaterfish.com 6/10, and I would say they are ok. Fish are reasonably priced but not a lot of variety is available at given time. Fish will arrive tired but with proper acclimation most of them survive while some will die for sure due to shipping stress.

will I order from them? Yes, because they are ok and if they have some fish I like and if the price is right.

I would like to finish up this review by pointing out some info on Komodoaquarium.com so that the buyer is aware of what they are getting into:
  1. fish is shipped through ONTRAC, not your regular UPS or fedex. I like ONTRAC becasue they guarantee delivery before 10:30 a.m.
  2. Shipped through "signature required," which I thought was scary
  3. No 15 day guarantee given but arrive alive guarantee is given, so there is some risk
  4. price is unbelievably cheap
  5. most likely all fish will come alive (atleast to me thats what happened)
  6. orders ship free for anything above $250,
  7. anything above $140, then only $10 shipping charge
  8. anything below $140 order I think the shipping is $20.
  9. Komodoaquarium.com does not sell fish to all the states, it only ships to some states, so please check those states before you place an order
  10. Finally, be confident to order from this place and I RECOMEND this is place very much based on my positive experience.

Could you please rate a number out of 10? I'm eager to see all of the other hobbyist's experience with these sellers

I agree with you

I agree with you

BlueZooAquatic.com : 4/10. I had to do 3 time DOA. They do give you credit but wasted a lot of money on shipping.

Yeah, I agree with you. Bluezooaquatics.com's husbandry is bad, and in addition to that they ship with very low amount of water in the bags ,and all fish come dead or dying. I requested them to add more water but they kept on doing what they do and killing fishes. Yeah, it is true that they give credit to DOA, but who wants to deal with that and they don't have to if the fish came alive to begin with right?

Have you bought from other online sellers? if so how would you rate them?

Nop

yeah i have 0 survival from bluezoo so far. 3 shipments. not going to use them anymore.

The trick that I found with bluezoo is that, try not buy a lot of fish at once. I usually like to place big order since I am already paying for shipping. In last transition I only placed 4 - 5 small fish and told them to put a lot of water and big bag for each fish. It worked out and that was/is going to be my last transition with them.

They Can't keep the fish alive for 16 hrs?

Well whatever the case, if Bluezooaquatics can't keep the fish alive for even 16 hrs during shipping then they are just bad. I'm surprised how they won't change their methods even after this much DOA, I mean they keep shipping fish with very little water and keep killing the fish. Fish killers. lol
May be they should change their name to FISHKILLERS.COM or BADSHIPPERS.COM.

Update on saltwaterfish.com order

Update on saltwaterfish.com order

I have place an order with saltwaterfish.com and I will update you all how that order comes.

Saltwaterfish.com just has some hidden costs, for example, they will say free shipping but will as you $10 more for priority shipping. will charge you $7 extra for the box etc...

They sent my box through standard overnight fedex, and it came at 4 p.m.; However, all the fish survived the trip and are doing well.

So all in all not bad, and I will buy from saltwaterfish.com
It is a good company with some hidden costs on shipping.

Update on Petsolutions.com order

Update on Petsolutions.com order

I have been looking for a Radiata lionfish and the only ok website that had them was petsolutions.com I bought it from them. I will keep you all updated how their order comes.

when I submitted the order, I left this comment "please ship only a healthy specimen of lionfish, if it is very skinny and unhealthy then please don't ship it."

So after I placed the order, there was no stock left on Radiate Lionfish, and I think I bought the very last fish they had. Next day a guy from petsolutions.com called me and said "the lionfish looks very skinny and unhealthy," and I asked him to cancel the order. The order got cancelled. good right?

well, a minute later I checked their website and they had one Radiata lionfish available. One poor guy is going to get it I guess. LOL

NEVER again!

NEVER again!

Buyer beware of Bluezooaquatics! In fact, buyer, just don't do it! We have ordered a total of FOUR fish from Bluezoo as well as a Sun coral (can you really count inverts?!) and I will never do it again!

RATING: 1/10 (but only because I get one whole acclimation kit per order)

I have shifted from the stance that they cannot guarantee 100% no disease to they cannot send a fish without disease 100% of the time. If you are looking for failure and hassle go ahead and order from them because I assure you, you will open the box to find a fish in little water, EXTREMELY LOW salinity so putting the fish in the normal salinity will kill it right there, and fish that will surely be ridden in disease that won't appear until after their 7 day guarantee.

Ordered a Regal Angel, yep we ordered knowing it was going to be a regal pain in the arse to get through QT. It wasn't getting it to eat that was the problem, it was the horrible case of ICH followed by the internal parasites that caused death. Wrote it off as we were unlucky and ordered a royal gramma and two small clowns along with a sun coral. All three fish came looking very weak and the sun coral was a hack job at best. There was so much damaged tissue it was horrible looking. The royal waited until day 6 to show signs of velvet, yes VELVET is also in their water. The two clowns had stringy poop by day two. So, four fish ordered and FOUR fish sick! My guess is that they run low levels of copper in their system to cover up ICH and velvet symptoms so the seven day guarantee gets their sick fish through and then the customer is shocked when day 7 brings on the white! I know for a fact the fish came with ALL the disease because I purchased three brand new QTs for these orders... no way did the disease come from my end. I emailed them yesterday to see how the velvet was going to be handled considering it showed on day 6 and there is a good chance none of them will make it. I will update you as to their response in their horrible husbandry.

While the sun coral came in horrible condition we have managed to get it moving along to better health. I was simply horrified by the condition of the thing. Either I got lucky or they do in fact at least feed the ones that require it to continue the feed response because it did feed the first time I tried, didn't extend its yellow portion but did in fact clearly eat. The following time it had a full eating response.

LiveAquaria you might not get a pretty little acclimation kit but the acros I ordered from there were in much better shape when they arrived. I liked that they had an arrival time of by 1030 through UPS rather than noon which is what FedEx has. Since I didn't order fish through them I can't truly compare them to Bluezoo but we may try them before shifting to completely LFS. I do know that the box shipped in from Liveaquaria is a little larger than the rather small one Bluezoo shoves everything into. (Bluezoo had a royal gramma, 2 clowns, a stylo crab, a sun coral, AND 2 feather dusters all in one container to ship!)

Case in point: DO NOT ORDER FROM BLUEZOO UNLESS YOU WANT DISAPPOINTED CHILDREN AND FISH THAT DEFINITELY NEED TREATMENT!

I have had nothing but bad experience from bluezooaquatics. but I disagree with you on one thing...... diseased fish can come Liveaquaria too....... the reason why I hate Bluezooaquatics is that they add so little water that the wish won't even make it during the shipping. They can't even keep the fish alive for 16hrs during shipping.

Wanted to get some fish and inverts from Komodo but the site is telling me "In order to offer the lowest prices a minimum item total of $399 is required. Please add more items to your cart!" I have about $150 worth in the cart...is this normal?
