...finally decided to start showing himself! I know everyone is all gaga over rarer, pricier wrasses, but this one has always been my favorite, especially when it flashes!

Thanks, it's actually a linespot flasher (note the tail). It'll stay in the reef. I don't plan on any small fish in the FO... hopefully some eels.

Duh!:) Just haven't seen too many that display that much blue. Is that picture under LED's?

Yeah, saw that post about the skellies and snakes. Goldies would be a better choice.

How is the wrasse doing with the Lubucks?

I lost the lubbocks a little while back. I think old age... it started to not be able to catch food well... slowly withered away. When he died, he was one of my 3 oldest fish in the tank... about 5 years.

Gorgeous Peter. Do most of them display the blue coloration like that? I almost picked up a LineSpot from LADD recently but just haven't pulled the trigger.

I love the coloration of it flashing.

Thank you!! It's probably just flashing while it gets used to its reflection... I'd guess it will calm down soon. But it's definitely a big, I suspect terminal amle, so it may just go ahead and flash all the time regardless.

I know what you mean. I was holding a Bells flasher in my QT for a friend. I didn't think it was any nicer than my Linespot and mine isn't even as nice as yours. Great photos!

Peter,

Gorgeous linespot! I've always felt these were underrated and just as nice, if not nicer, than some of the pricier "models". I had one that flashed like that while in quarantine. My 10 y/o son and I would marvel at it. Peter, I'd be curious if yours continues to flash. IME many flashers calm down after a few days and then rarely, if ever, display the flashing behaviour which is so cool. Please update us periodically. IME the linespot is one of the species that tends to flash the most, at least initially.

Yes, I suspect the same thing will happen as you describe. I will definitely keep this thread updated. I do notice he has certain behaviors depending on the time of evening. I really haven't had the chance to see what he does during the day though, so this weekend will be interesting.

i just lost a linespot. it was doing great for 2 months. woke up and he was belly up. really cool fish , i'm not even into wrasses that much.

Good thing I decided I wanted one recently and added it to a revised stock list! Gorgeous wrasse you have can't wait to read about further updates!

Peter, you are killing me everytime you flash a great looking wrasse here and I go out getting one but it doesn't come close to looking like yours. After seeing your lubbocks I got a small one for almost 2 years now and not even close. I may have to go out and find a linespot now. lol

It's like looking at other people's pink margin where the terminal male turns silver/white but I've never seen one in person and I have my male about 3 years now.

How aggressive does it get? Will it get along with other wrasse in general?

Thanks! Yeah, my Lubbock's was gorgeous for sure... can you believe I had the pleasure of keeping that stunning fish for 5 good years at a $25 price point?!

I have to admit this linespot looked especially nice on LADD. I can get linespots locally for $30, but I don't see them this nice. Or this big...he's a beast. I have no idea how they are with other wrasses. All i have is a large flame male (they don't pay any attention to each other), a cleaner wrasse (again, no attention paid, and a soon to be removed very small twospot hogfish (I fear he will get mean like he male that I had did).

Peter,

Was your Lubbock's color always like that or it colored up after turning terminal male? Over the 2 years mine has colored up but nowhere like yours. I paid $18 for mine but rather pay $7 more for yours. :) My Pink margin grew big and fat but hasn't turn silver yet and the waiting goes on... I was actually in touch with Max (RHS) prior to them closing on getting a silver Pink margin but he closed up shop before he can find me one.

I can't find the picture that was posted on RHS' web anymore but I was told by Max and another senior reefer here that the silver color on the body is on some terminal males. If I can find a pic I will post it here.

I can't find the pic but found the email back in Aug 2010

Q: Do you have a male pink margin that looks like the picture you have posted more on the whitish side?

A: Thank you for emailing us. Unfortunately, we do not have any with that much white in them right now. But, we do have an import coming in over the weekend that will contain pink margins. I will pull one that is silver/white for you if they are available.
