The picture doesn't do it justice. Bright orange and teal green with purple mouths. About 50 polyps/heads. Just finished aclimating and can't wait to see it open up.
Can anyone tell me more about this species?
Thanks in advance

Echinata it is. Thanks. How long do the sweepers usually get?
Is there a name for the color combo? (ie rainbow...)

Rainbow echinata. Make sure you keep it at least a few inches away from other corals. If it gets angry even that might not help.

I have one that attacked my astrea snail. I'll have to find the picture and post it. It had to be about two inches away.

Seriously..... listen to these people. This coral can be CRAZY!!! I personally would keep this coral at least 5 inches away from anything else. I had one that nuked an entire lordhowensis colony that was about 4 inches away.

Thanks for the heads up. I have it in the corner by itself. The only thing within 6 inches are some button polyps. Do the sweepers come out regularly or only when it is "****ed off"?

Beautiful coral. I believe the sweepers come out every night or at feedings. I had a blue chalice frag that fell next to my echinata. The next morning it was pure white. These things are killers.

Some echinata have sweepers, not all. You'll have to watch it and see for sure. The morphs with orange in them seem to be the ones with the sweepers, so yours probably has them. The lavender/blue echinata with the various colored eyes dont seem to have sweepers. At least I have not seen any in the 8-9 morphs I have.

If any of you guys have pics of the sweepers please post them. I've never seen this coral before.
Did someone say it eats snails?
Why does it just attack other corals?
