My first attempt at building a sump.

Well I have decided to build my own sump for my 33 gal. cube. Here are a couple cad versions of the design. Does anyone not think this will work well.

well first off ......nice drawings :D yeah i think it should work.i will tell you i have a 38 gallon tank and my sump is just about the same size and i had a microbubble problem.i got it fixed with filter socks on all return lines.just wanted to let you know of the possibility of this.and once again nice drawings ;)

Nice CAD drawings. I think you need to get rid of the baffling between the overflow and the skimmer section and relocate it between the fuge and return. You want as much raw water coming from the main tank going to your skimmer section. That would maximize the performance of your skimmer. Your thoughts?

I agree with Russ, great CAD! I think the bubble trap baffling would go better just before the return chamber.

If you haven't bought the materials for this yet, let me know and maybe we could split the cost. I've got to build a sump for my 54.

I will make that change tonight. I wanted my return section to be as big as possible to help with evap as I won't be using an auto-top-off.(no room

Looks good Todd, you might want to raise one wall on the fuge so water comes in the top and out the bottom or vice versa. That way you eliminate the chance of most of the water just flowing over the top of your fuge. Just a thought...

Keith, I don't think I can do that because I am going to have a remote DSB in the fuge and it would wash under the wall.
