Not a rule as far as I know, but word on the boards is they've been known to do better when mounted at an angle to verticle, possibly to evade intense light? Or possibly mimics there natural growth in wild?

Not sure, but by not knowing this prior and by chance I did this with the last polyp of the two colonies I started out with just as an effort to keep them in a med. flow and low light area. But it made it. Then from the 45 deg. angle after 6 months I had to move it again as some valonia was encroaching it, and with after hearing of this information I made sure to find another similar mounted location and managed to hang it at 90 deg. full vert. Not only did it act like it never even got moved(which normally they reacted to anything)but it sprouted 2 babies just months later!

Thanks for the advice. The tank has pc's on it, its only an 18 gallon tank. When I move it to the 100 gallon I may mount them like that but till then hopefully they will do fine.

Very nice. I have the same type and so far they seem a bit hardier than some of the other varieties I've had. Mine has doubled from 2 polyps to 4 over the course of about 8 months. Good luck with those beauties!

It's not easy thats for sure! Helps if the powerheads get turned off for few. With mysis you need to gently rest one on one of there tenticles so that they can pull it in towards themselves. Otherwise, I feed rotifers and they just baloon up to catch that stuff.
