My first casuality!

Lost my torch coral from the frag-a-thon today. It appeared that when it was fragged it got cut into on the bottom side of the polyp. It stayed green but, just looked deflated. Today I took a turkey baster and blew a small current across it and it began to fall apart. Dark slime was coming out of the inside so I took it out. Bums me out! Everything else looks great! What a great event!
I also posted on c-sea's web site but, If anyone has a frag of torch that they would like to get rid please let me know. My budget is limited so please nothing too large, or more like not too pricey. Thanks to all!

Matt

first off, i would be interested in a piece of torch too if anyone has a second piece.

second, i dont think i even got a torch to begin with lol. i came home and when it was out, it looked identical to my frogspawn colony.

third, i ended up losing my fiji leather. i think the mother colony was WAY over fragged

yellow figi

yellow figi

I have heard that the yellow figi doesnt respond to fragging all that well. Mine is still doing ok, but it does not have the polyp extension it had the first night it was in my system.

I have a large torch - at least 7 heads that is for sale whole for $50 or I can make frags for $7/head. I also have a purple/green hammer frag about 4 heads for $30.

I have hammer coral that I am trying to move if you are interested. I know it's not the same as a torch, but it will bring the same color and texture to your tank. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Check your nitrates and phosphates. Something is high. Or it's getting too little or too much light. As a freshly cut frag it will be extra sensitive to these. My Fiji leather is thriving. Water change, GFO and carbon to correct. Medium to medium/low light placement. Go easy on water changes and or GFO amount though since you have a couple SPS in there and radical level swings will cash those in pronto. It's a delicate dance with certain frags.

mine turned black around the edges, then the next day it was half the size because it was disintegrating.

Mine did the same yesterday (Sunday). today I got home from work and the whole thing was gone. All the other frags seem to be doing fine and i have a hammer right next to it that is thriving. Guess the stress of fragging was too much for it. =(

i tried to be as gentle as possible but it was very soft and hard to cut small pieces so everyone could get one. do not throw AWAY. Even if its dead throw it in your sump hammers and frogs are very resiliant i had a huge frogspawn that i thought was dead threw it in my sump and a couple months later there were babyheads all over it.

+1 I once had a green frogspawn that was down to a spot the size of a pea. It came back and was about 3 heads a few months later.

hey chugg dont beat yourself up! obviously some peoples survived, you didn't do anything wrong. We all know that certain corals may not make it after being fragged. thats just part of the game. :D
