I got an unexpected safety bonus at work today and just happened to be a couple miles away from my favorite LFS. I also recently picked up Lightroom, and this is my first editted photo ever. Just thought that I would share it. Let me know what you think. Any tips would be great!

I cant see the second picture, but the reason the first is blurry is because of a relatively slow shutter speed on a moving target.

1/13th is pretty slow to use on something that is moving like that. I would increase that basically as much as you can without having to raise your ISO so high you sacrifice image quality.

Did you really shoot that at 300mm? That could be your problem as well, turning a telephoto lens into a "macro" type of shot never has turned out very well for reef photography, at least none of the examples I've seen.

Thanks for the input guys!

As far as the 300mm yes I was duped into buying the Sigma 70-300mm lens when I purchased the camera. The college aged kid told me it was a macro lens(VERY new to photography). It has a "macro" setting between 200-300mm. So its what I have, its pretty nice for outside photos and it lets me take some closer photos than the 18-55mm that came with the D50 body.

Im learning and hopefully it will be a somewhat quick progression to being able to take "legitimate" photos.

Thanks again for your input its helping me to learn.

since you are looking to learn....looks to me like the whitebalance is a little off too :).
