My first fish after QT didn't make it : (

So after establishing my new QT protocol for all items entering my DT.. I have my first loss. My Blue spotted jawfish that I built my DT tank requirements around... 4 inches of sand everywhere.. section of 6 inches of sand with hidden rocks / rubble / PVC piping for him to hide in... I woke up early today after my Prazi treatment for him and TT wasting much sand so he didn't have to endure bare bottom....

and when I woke up super early today to put him in the DT... He was gone. I noticed my filter was making loud noise. My heart sank... he went up the filter tube and was killed. My heart is breaking and I am exhausted. After all this to lose him to a silly accident - and avoidable accident. Just yesterday he was eating.. and beautiful.

To buy another BSJ or a less expensive pearly jawfish is the question. Also now that I will have other fish in the DT tank before him.. will a jawfish be able to enter the tank.

Ouch that sucks. I had a similar accident with a baby trigger& I thought I had blocked it off well enough. It happens, sorry.

You should be aware that those spotted jaw fish also require some what lower temps & often do not do well long term in our warm tanks.

I know I think next time I will get a pearly jawfish? yes I heard that..? The pearly does not have same issue.. from what I understand. Is it as cute? I like the behaviour.
