My first Ricordea Florida!

Today I purchased my first Ric. I love it! I bought it at my local LFS for $7.99 Does this price sound right? I've seen them online for more than double.

The pics are not that great and don't show it's beautiful green/blue/purple colors. Go figure.....I went and bought a Nikon D40 and don't even know how to take pics with it! I wish I could figure out how to get those beautiful shots that I see everyone else post with all that close up detail and color.

Here it is:

aw isn't that cute, nice work you'll look back in 2 years when u have 50 of them and wonder how it happened so fast

JMCAquarium: In 2 years??? You don't know what it's taking me right now not to go down to the LFS and buy the rest of them!!!

Jeff: It's so little, about an inch, what could it eat?

OARrocks: Why are they cheaper in Boca? Is it because we're on the coast closer to the Keys? Is that a normal price for a small Ricordea single head? I would assume they're a little more expensive if you have to buy them online.

i got my green ones for 6 and ive seen red/orange ones for 10 dolla but they were alwasy sold by the time i got to the lfs.

Normal price for your area. Over here in Phoenix a common ric sells for $12 and nicer ones for $25+

When they are that small you do not need to feed them ....you don't need to feed them at all matter of fact however if you want them to grow fat and spread alittle faster then normal feeding is a nice option. I let cyclopeez loose down stream off mine about twice a month as a treat. U must also keep in mind if your system can handle feeding (when you get more of course)

JMCAquarium: Good to know, Thanks. How quickly do you think I will start to see some growth? I had no idea they could get up to 3 inches!

the growth is all up tot he tank and the person taking care of them. My yuma's grow slowly but they grow and grow and grow as where others i know there yuma's grow very fast but kinda stop and just sit there.
Rics like yours will take alittle time it almost seems that once a couple of them get going together they grow faster and faster.
