Am I missing any "must haves". Any compatibility issues that you see? Ideally, the tangs will all go in at the same time. Total of four tangs in a 225 g tank.

as far as the kole or orangeshoulder, either one would be great. I have an orangeshoulder in my 220 and love him to death. I cant believe they arent more popular. the koles are also another great fish awesome personality and very beautiful. Either way you can go wrong on those fish.
I have 5 tangs in my 220 that have been together for over 2 yrs and never a problem
Naso, Yellow, Purple, red sea sailfin, Orangeshoulder.

Well, i figured i would continue in the spirit of this thread, rather than post a near identical thread to post my fish WISH list, in that i am 3 weeks cycling my 90G reef tank... please let me know if you see any obvious problems...

I am also listing these chronologically...

2 Black oscillaris(sp?) clowns (soon)
2-3 blue chromis/orange anthias (1 month from soon)
1 atlantic blue tang (2 weeks from chromis)
1 royal gramma (2-3 weeks after tang)
2 green mandarins (6-8 months from soon)

2 Coral banded shrimp (about time of clowns)

Coral/etc planned:
Zoos (soon)

Xenia(sp?) (soon)
2-3 Clams (about Blue chromis time)
sun polyp coral (soon after clams)
Bubble tip anenome (bit before mandarins)

ANy input appreciated.

Hey Xirxes23,
Join the thread, perhaps we will both learn something new. :)

I was thinking of the Atlantic Blue Tang as well but since I have a PBT, I thought that might be too much blue. I always heard that you should wait at least 9-12 months before adding any Mandarins, especially two. I assume a mated pair. Just be sure you have a refugium for your pod population to keep the dragonets well fed.

My List from the Original Post
I am planning on feeding the tank twice a day. I think with the large Euro-Reef skimmer (RC-500) and the amount of water movement, I should be okay with the poop situation but anyone think otherwise, please let me know.

The reef tank is primarily to show off SPS corals. I don't plan to have LPS corals in the tank. If anyone thinks there are too many big fish in the tank to properly support a primarily SPS reef, then I will rethink the mix. I currently have the Majestic Angel in a tank with a Crocea clam, a large Xenia, large mushrooms, inverts, shrimp and some SPS corals. No issues with nipping as of yet. I am hoping, praying and crossing my fingers when I move the angel to the bigger tank that she will continue to be a model citizen.

So how about the three different blennies in the 225g. Anyone see any issues with that. Will the Neon Goby hide the whole time with the larger fish?

Perhaps just the Blue-chin trigger instead of two triggers. Although they are both known to be good reef fish. Would they eat my snails, featherworms, and any ornamental shrimp I may put in the tanks??

Thanks.

i have two reftugiem boxes, drilled on each side with suction cups for inside mount, each with their own small powerhead that fits in one of drilled holes, but they are not very large...maybe 6x9x10 each? will these two with a decent light mounted over them make much of a difference in pod population?

Also, i have a ton of pods in the tank right now, no predators, but i was under the assumption that the sump allows growth of pods as well? or are refugiems needed?

I have a large refugium that I am setting up for my reef tank. I think they are a vital part of the system for many reasons. Lighting will not have an effect on the pod population. Lighting in the refugium is critical for the microalgae many people put in their refugium.

Now back to original fish list postings...

Revised Fish List

Revised Fish List

Okay, I have made some revisions to the fish list., including an Anthias species that I am considering.

Revised REEF TANK 225g.
Bicolor Anthias Pseudanthias Bicolor (1 male & 5 females)
*Blue/Green Chromis (7 fish)
*Sailfin Tang Zebrasoma Desjardinii
*Powder Blue Tang Acanthurus Leucosternon
Purple Tang Zebrasoma Xanthurum
Bluechin Trigger Xanthichthys Auromarginatus
Orangeshoulder Surgeonfish Acanthurus Olivaceus
*Radiant Wrasse Halichoeres Iridis
*Bicolor Blenny Ecsenius Bicolor
Midas Blenny Ecsenius midas
Lawnmower Blenny Salarias Fasciatus
*Magestic Angelfish Pomacanthus Navarchus
Neon Goby Elacatinus oceanops
*Falco Hawkfish Cirritichthys Falco

Choose One:
Copperbanded Butterfly Chelmon rostratus
Black and White Henichus Diphreutes

*Currently have in my 120g.

I would like to put 2-3 different Anthias species. What other Anthias species would you suggest? Must be able to be in a tank with intense MH lighting.
Am I missing any "must haves"?
Any compatibility issues that you see?
Blenny fans...any issues with three different Blenny species together?
Ideally, the tangs will all go in at the same time. Total of four tangs in a 225 g tank.

Thanks for your input and comments.

I was hoping for some input on this thread but I seem to be the only one posting. :(

Are any of these fish to be known 'nippers' on corals SPS or LPS?

Your input is very much appreciated.

i have 2 nasos and a yellow in my 300 im going to add 1 more yellow and 2 purples and a vlamingi and thats it for tangs. the rest of the fish will be a pair of swallow tail angels and then anthias and wrasses.

Hey Keefsama,
That is alot of tangs, seven in all, right? Now I don't feel bad about adding three to my 225g. Thanks. :)

I saw some beautiful square anthias when I was at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago last week. They along with the other beautiful reef fish looked awesome.

BTW, if anyone goes to Chicago, the Shedd's Wild Reef exhibit is a "must see". It is awesome. I spent almost an hour just in the reef exhibit, which is on the lower level of the aquarium. Just thought I would give it a plug.

I'm a shedd member and I can spend the better part of the day in the Wild Reef exhibit. In fact, most of the time that is the only thing I go there to see.

Hey Marinemom,
I guess I'm a Marine mom too. :)

I used to live in Chi-town and it was great to get back. It is funny...to me that is, that it has been 12 years since I have been to the Windy City. Anyway, they did not have the Wild Reef exhibit when I lived there. It is an amazing exhibit. I certainly can see how you could spend most of the day there. Have you ever had a chance to get a "behind the scenes" tour of the exhibit. Now that would be awesome. They do a great job showing off the reef structure in many ways, with an ecological focus.

back to the posting...
I have changed my Anthias selection from the Lyrtail to the Threadfin (Carberryi). They are less common than the Lyrtail and are beautiful fish with lots of color. I also took off the Pinktail trigger and am going with a mated pair of Bluechin/jaw triggers. I am excited about stocking this tank.

R-

What about a chrysurus angel instead of a majestic. HAve you looke dat ant rare fairy wrases. flame, lineaotuous, rosy fin, what about a jaw fish?
