Very Nice. I like the contrast of colors on this one. What is it?

I'm sorry if you've answered this already, but what type of ballasts do you run your 250 watt radiums on? Thanks!

SLS Blue Wave's....

Beautiful tank, when my tank grows up it wants to look like that!!!!!

Thank You Henry for the awesome compliment. Good luck and Happy Reefing :)

Thanks. I run my 250 watt radiums on 2 ice cap e-ballasts. I worry that they don't put out enough PAR though. Are the blue waves the HQI ballasts? Blue Wave 7s I think their called?
Do you think that you get better par than with e-ballasts?

Yes, the Blue waves are a HQI style ballast. As for more PAR than an eballast, yes they will produce more PAR than an e ballast. Have I ever tried the ice cap e ballast; no, I have not so I could not tell you the difference. I have ran the galaxy e ballast and they were nice as well. The trade off is a little bit more push rather than being more efficient.

As for PAR readings and all that, I am the wrong person to ask. I have never put a PAR meter on any of my systems and I am pretty low tech when it comes to all that. I like that this is a hobby and that there is a lot of trial and error. :)

Thanks, I'm thinking about switching to the bluewave hqi ballast becuase I just don't think I'm getting enough par from my ice-caps. Obviously that bulb/ballast combo is working very well for you, so at least I'll know that my lighting is in good shape if I upgrade to the bluewaves.

The bluewaves are nice and so are the galaxy's. With either of those and a decent reflector, I know that there is enough par to get what you need out of your lighting.

Here are a couple more from the last time I had the camera out

( Yes Kenny, more fish for you ;) )
