wow what a difference. what is your procedure before introducing new corals to your tank? do you use quarantine or do you just dip? if dip, could you tell me your actual procedure? thanks
Do you still have the Regal?
Marc, what made you take the leap to zeovit? Ming (Kangym) didn't have a influence on you did he? he as got my wheels turning too..
No just dipping here. I made the decision after tearing down the tank, that I would at least do everything I could to not have to do that again. I set a second system just for observation and treatment of new corals.
When I get a new coral, I try to dip them in a strong revive dip, unless they are stressed from shipping; then I have to make a executive decision as I'm trying to live on the safer side of things nowadays. After the dip, I closely inspect the coral under a floodlight and if it looks kosher, into the QT tank for a minimum of 21 days, but usually longer. There is no rush these days as an extra week in a stable observation tank won't cause any harm and the display in kind of full anyways.
When the coral is ready to get called up to the major league team, it gets another round of revive and another inspection. It is then when I have the little pep talk with the coral before it sits on the frag rack until I figure out where I want to place it.
Thanks
Zeo has intrigued me too. I don't know how much better it can make your tank look though:thumbsup:
thanks, and a few more question. On your Q/T tank. how do you keep it running when you don't have any corals waiting in quarantine? How do you keep bacteria going? do you have live rock for bacteria if yes when you are not using the Q/T do you empty the tank and what would you do to start back the bacteria again? thanks
