My Grouper is dying.

My 7 inch six line grouper has been with me for over 4 years.

About a week and half ago he started acting funny. Not able to control his buoyancy causes it to go in circles every which way possible.
It's now just floating on the surface still breathing and fighting for his life.

My pet shop owner said to put him in a big inside my freezer to kill him humanly.

As anyone seen this type of behavior on groupers (can't control their buoyancy) or know what causes it?

Can this problem be reversed?

Should I do what the pet shop owner said and put him out of his misery?

Thx,

DJPJ

I'm sorry your fish is having troubles. :( Many conditions can cause buoyancy problems, but most of the time with symptoms like you're describing, treatment is ineffective, and you would have to determine the cause in order to treat. In my opinion, your best chance of success is to contact an aquatic veterinarian. If you decide to euthanize, clove oil in a bucket of tank water is more humane.
