My H. Kudas Experience

In Memoriam
Hi out there...

I have been interested in the aquarium hobby for some time now and my boyfriend has a 200 gallon reef tank at our home.

However something I always wanted to dabble in was a seahorse tank but wasn't sure where to begin. So with my boyfriends amazing knowledge and my passion for seahorses, we did some research and have begun the process of starting our new addition and I have decided to document the process here

I am really excited about this process and everything I will learn!

If everything goes accordingly I will be trying to breed them and document with videos and pictures the rituals that will take place.

Please bare with me my hobbyist vocabulary is average at best...and I tend to make up my own words lol...

Well here it goes!:bounce2:

very nice, one suggestion is to add some thin branch rock or old dead sps colonines to give them more hitching post around the tank, also what size tank is that ?

thanks :) its a 28 gallon. I plan on going this Friday to purchase some fans and such to add around the tank. i was worried about throwing in to much at one including the seahorses. I am trying to be extra careful with these little guys so they can live long and happy lives :) so any suggestions on doing so is greatly appreciated! im thinking about adding a little reef fish to help clean up the bottom as well as a sand sifter. Any suggestions on the what reef fish would be the best to keep with them? Allllsssoo :) I am suppose to be going out of town this weekend and will be gone for 2 days what should I do as far as feeding them?

re: vacation care - do you have a trusted friend you can have feed them? I would say its important they be feed at least once a day the days you're gone. I would, however, portion out the food you want them to be fed exactly. I do this when I travel, along with extensive notes, and it helps non-fish people keep from overfeeding, etc . . .

Also RE vacation care: I have a local petsitting service that I have worked with and trainied to make sure they know what to look for and how to feed the horses when I am out of town... It has worked well for me so far, although I am sure the fact that I am also extremely anal about notes, laying out food prior, what to look for vs. what is not ok, etc. doesnt hurt anything.
