My Hawaiian Pygmy Seahorses from Ocean Rider came in!

True pygmy seahorses live in Coral Triangle region of southeast Asia and are found only on one species of seafan. There are seven currently described species, the first of which was annotated in 1970. Size ranges from about 1/2 inch for most species to about 1 inch for one species (end of tale to nose).

They are found well outside the Coral Triangle; H. bargibanti (and an undescribed species) are found as far north as Japan, H. denise is found as far east as Pohnpei, and H. colemani is found at Lord Howe Island.

Four of the seven described species are actually free living and do not associate with any particular species of coral. H. waleananus associates with a variety of soft corals, H. denise has been found on at least 9 different gorgonian genera, and H. bargibanti has been found on 3 species of gorgonian (all in the genus Muricella, one undescribed species).

I have a huge rock with red kelp in the tank, you can kind of see it in the shot. I'm also enriching brine shrimp with spurlina, algamac, vitamin c, sanolife and astaxanthin.

Cool pic of the colony I got yesterday hahaha

Awesome picture of them all huddled together!
