Hi einstien

Let me put your mind at rest. You are not the first person to wonder if there is a commercial interest in all/some of this on my part. .I do not I have a full time, very well paid, senior position in the UK in a government funded sector, with a super pension scheme and do not have the need to scratch a few $ here or there from anything to do with these.

For me - this is an interesting and enjoyable and stress relieving hobby, made even more enjoyable when I discover something as valuable as this thread.

You may have noticed I was banned from Zeoland because of an allegation that I had commercial interest in Prodibio. The fact is the UK importer of Prodibio is a sponsor of Zeoland - easily checked - but an example of 'shoot from the hip' commercial sensitivity that does more harm than good to the hobbyist. You will also note, that despite that, I continue to refer to the value of Zeo products. Why? Because IME, the non ZB4 elements work. I am not concerned with who makes profit out of what ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ only the efficacy and cost effectiveness - infact I freely give people links to where they can get the products at the cheapest rates. Zeo products are German incidentally - more on that later. Prodi is French and Nightsun is Swiss. None are British.

The money making opportunity I let Iwan know about was in relation to selling the copyright to his tank images to a British RO/DI company. I got nothing out of making the link between them, other than I hope Iwan does, as a small way to say thank you to him spending the time and effort of sharing his methods and results with the english speaking world.

I personally (my reef I should say) has benefited at lot from his help. Maybe I am too 'helpful' on this thread by providing summaries, calculations and links.....? I am happy to stop doing this if people want me to and just continue to have PM correspondence with Iwan if I need further help. Please do let me know - I wont be offended. Really.

On an amateur anthropological note - I have noticed is that it is US americans who ask questions about commercial interest, or worse make accusations without checking easily verifiable facts - (the zeoland eg). Maybe that has something to do with the environment you guys have to live in? Please donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t take this as a generalisation US friends, because many many US reefers are friendly open and helpful, but it seems that you are constantly exposed to 'snake oils', and this must make people wary.

But, pause for a moment and reflect on where the majority of really solid reefing developments have emerged from? The German speaking world. Yes, there are many US reefers who have made very valuable contributions too - but consider the origins of most of the proven technologies and approaches. I do therefore think it is understandable for some americans to be cautious and look for commercial vested interests, but that does need to be moderated by some careful thinking before allegations are made. We want the knowledge transfer donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t we?

If one carefully reads what Iwan has written on this thread about Prodi, Zeo or Nightsun, you will notice he made no claims. He has simply put up pictures, and provided some info and then responds to questions. In my view this is the www at it's empowering best.

Finally - it would be great if you tried out PolypLab and report back on progress. Its not who makes the products thats important, but what they are and how they work. IMO what Iwan has shown is that probiotic methods of nutrient control produce great results, that feeding corals appropriately (lighting, phytoplanction and the additives) builds on this and that trace element additions builds further.

Cheers

Simon

Many thanks for your statement, Simon.

I thank you for your support in this thread. The contributions and enquiries have got so comprehensive in the meantime that I cannot trade it alone any more. In my job as manager and consultant of a large company I often travel around and do not find the time to be active in the forum all the time.

I am greatly happy, Simon, that you devote yourself to this topic so intensively. I am pleased if you write so intensively in future, too.

I have started this thread some months ago because I wanted to introduce my tank. I was asked soon with which use I carry out my success.

I like to share my method and my experiences. This is the meaning of this threads. The WWW makes the exchange of experience possible fast and for a broad target group. I have a lot of benefits with this informations. I hope that I also can share my experiences with many people and these can take benefits from it.
This and only this is the aim of this thread.
I write positively about products with which I have made good experiences. If I were involved in one of the products financially, I would declare this clearly.
Prodibio and hopefully also Nightsun are confessed by this thread also outside Europe. I am pleased about this development. Through this the market becomes ind stimulates the knowledge about alternative methods extendedly. But I am not involved in the commercial success.

Let us reach the core of this threads again and share our experiences now.

Thanks a lot.

Thank you Iwan:)

Just for those people who are not familiar with german to english translations and to avoid any misuderstanding - 'profit' in this context means 'benefit' in the altruistic sense - not in the $$$ Enron sense:)

Cheers

Simon

I've been reading this thread from day one and its tanks like Iwans that have encouraged me to go sps in my new tank. Products like Zeo and Prodibio are not readily available in my area so when Polyp Lab (which is more local) had a contest for "not quite perfect" tank I entered and won. I am on day two of the System Reef-reshâ„¢ and I already see better PE on all my frags. I hope that one day my tank can look half as good as Iwans does... keep up the good work and thank you for being an inspiration.

Simon, please do not go quiet on us now. You have been a major asset in this thread helping translate a lot of the foreign stuff and dissecting Iwan's method down and explaining it to us in a way that is easier to understand. Could you help me out and explain a little about what is written on the Nightsun products. I have not found anything in English and I hate using online translators. Are these products only for trace element addition or do they also offer stuff similar to the ZB4?

Iwan, I just want to thank you again for taking the time to continue on with this thread. If it was not for this thread being started, it is possible that all of us in the US would not realize that there are cheaper probiotic methods out there than ZEO.

DARKPHREAK, Please tell us more about your starting of Reef-resh. How long has your tank been running? How is the tank looking now? What are you PO4 levels and what are you testing them with, etc.? Do you have a pic of your tank? Sorry if these have already been answered previously or if you have already posted a pic, there are a lot of people posting in this thread and it gets hard to remember who posted what.:) For some reason, I am leaning towards trying the Polyp Labs line. Not sure why I want to try it more than Prodibio but something in the back of my head is telling me to try it. I think the Prodibio has proven to us that ZEO is not the absolute one and only way to do it and that "all others are only copies of ZEO and won't work". Is there any place to read about the dosing recommendations of the Reef-resh? I saw what was written about the product on the Fins Reef site but it doesn't say anything about how much and how often to dose.

I have been waiting on my reactor to start the Zeovit method of reef keeping but I think I'm going to start with Prodibio first. I have ordered everything from Rob'sreef.com and could have not asked for a better experince. Thanks Robert for the help.I all so looked up the Polylab Reefresh to and found this it may help some of you get started using their products.

Don't stop now!!

Don't stop now!!

Hey guys, don't even think for a minute that you can come here, share with all of us your great success stories, talk about the different products you've tried and the great results with them, and then just like that you want us to stop drooling after each picture :D

I have been reading silently since page 1 and been learning a lot, for that I thank you all, specially Iwan and Simon.

Now I have a question: I'm planning on re-starting (long story) my 90 gallon this May, I already have the tank, stand and most of the equipment, I'm going to go with T5's. It's going to be a mixed reef. The question is: After cycling and when the tank is stable, do you recommend dosing any/all of this products prior to adding any corals or should I wait until the tank requires it due to coral "usage"?

Thanks again for this wonderful thread and please don't stop posting.

Rob or anyone else here, what would you recommend?

I would like at least a 3 month supply and want to maximize results, not that my tank is bad or anything.

Would the Prodibio Bio Kit Reef be all I needed?

How much do I need for 3 months also?
I figure about 200gl of NET water.
Tank is a 225gl with 45gl sump.
Here is a Video-

Should we start a new Prodibio thread to track people's progress who are new to using the product?

On a couple problem tanks we have we are using Biodigest/Bioptim weekly, instead of every 15 days, per Simon's advice. That advice has gotten buried here in these 31+ pages!

I think a new thread would be great so Iwan can have his thread back

If this happens pleas post a link here to follow up.

Thanks
