Plants

Plants

I have a quick question, did your angel eat the saltwater plants in your tank? and how hard were they to take care of?

I've had 4 angels over the years. The coral beauty I am convinced could survive a nuclear apocalypse. Easy as heck to keep alive, but fairly aggressive. That fish is still alive in a friend's tank, I bought it originally over 5yrs ago.

Potters angel was my favorite, but very difficult. It didn't last a week for me... :(

Flame angel has been quite easy as well, have had it about 2yrs. Also very aggressive.

Flame back has also been nearly invincible. Even after several weeks of severe aggression from the flame angel after introduction to the tank, it pulled through and seems as happy as ever. First week it lost nearly all its tail and had a big bite on the side, but pulled through.

All angels nip at things. But I've never had one harm any corals, plants, clams, or nems.

How often have you replaced the bulbs?
I only had the stock light for maybe 9-mo? I replaced the bulb right before I replaced the hood with a Gen1 Radion and never looked back. Have a Gen3 Pro on the new tank.
Think you're due for a FTS sir!
OK, long overdue!! Haha! New tank is still nowhere close to the NC28 due to my travel schedule and other priorities, but right now it's looking pretty good in my opinion. All 5 fish are happy and healthy, and the nems are loving it.

Great looking tank. I am about to set up my nano cube 28 and I hope it looks half as good as yours.
Thanks!!
Nice coraline grow!
Thanks!!
Let's see some updates man! (this is moore1811 by the way, I changed my name.) Hope all is well, Merry Christmas!
Good to hear from you man, hope all is well!!
I concur. Also are you thinking of changing things up?

Marty
So many things have changed. Mostly neglect and bad decisions. The new RODI is a godsend, yet I neglect it's potential (for frequent water changes).

The rose BTA and green BTA died on an out of town stint. But the rainbow is doing great and I just bought a new awesome looking sunset. Tube is still alive after all these years. Ora nepthea is so big it's touching the surface, tho the red goni has been slowly fading but hanging in there for over a year.

I got dumb and saw a bullet hole clown at my LFS and decided to try 3 in a 30g. New fish was dead by AM and gave my big ole female something and she died a week later. Heartbreaking after having her for 5+ years and having her featured on the SA web page.

In my mourning, I bought a Phantom clown as a replacement. But he has been bullied a lot so mostly been in a breeder box for 4 days. Let's hope for the best!

So I know it's been a long time since an update, but the tank is still doing well. I've been spending a lot of time messing with a few new planted tanks I set up, which sounds detrimental to the reef but actually quite the opposite. I've been more prudent about weekly water changes and overall maintenance. All 5 fish are still happy and healthy.

I will capture some updated pics soon, but for now here are some pics of my new fetish.

And my betta which gives some SW fish a run for their money in the looks department!

Hey Ange, looked through your thread. After you left SPS, what did you start keeping? Can't seem to find it. I think it was a stick looking thing. Also you kept some florescent stuff that I can't think of the name. my buddy is getting tired of SPS, want to suggest something new.

Thanks,

Marty
