Ooh la la! Any guesses on species? Or do I gotta go poking round algaebase again... :P I'd keep an eye on that snail in the second photo.. he seems to be enjoying the macro too. I lost a really pretty colony of Ulva linza this way.. seems that N. vibex thinks its candy. :(

hey sarah :)

no idea on the species but its a awesome macro. i saw it once at the lfs half a year ago but when i went back it was already gone. it was another species of the red bubbles. that one grew straight unlike this one. i couldn't resist this and bought it. don't even want to say how much they gouged me for. if you find the species please share :) i've been searching with no luck. this macro has lots of holes in it now after the pods and snails got to it. what does the ulva linza look like btw.

I wish I could show ya Blue! My vibex decided the cool macros I got were really yummy and ate them wholesale. Little brats! Hopefully your gorgeous red bubbly type doesnt meet the same fate. The Ulva linza had this neat twisted/spiralled appearance to it, nice long growth on the strips of algae, about 0.5" wide or so. And bright electric green was my favorite part.

I havent been able to find an ID for this algae.. I wonder if Kevin our mod knows.
