maybe it is self explanatory but I’ll give some more details: it started with one brute trash can and a mess of cords and tubing. But my girlfriend was gone for the week so I had some time to work on the tank and extras so i got organized.

you can see that the 5 stage RO/DI unit is all mounted on a board with a booster pump, TDS, and flush kit. The waste and RO/DI run along top of the support beam to hide the hose. Then the top left barrel is the RO/DI with a float switch at the very top and a bulkhead drilled at the bottom on a ball valve. The next two barrels on the top are waste water, they are connected with a ball valve and bulkheads as well ( I wanted to use unions too but not enough room) the far right can is drilled on the other side as well with a pipe that runs to the washer on a ball valve and a short hose. So I can use the water for washing clothes or plants. I'm just renting for right now so it is not permanent but when I get a house I plan on a 175 gallon IBC container and hooking the sprinkler system up to it...they are $150 on CL.

Cost break down:

4-45 gallon trash cans ($40 each at home depot, they are the only place that caries them I found)$160

1-35 gallon trash can (home depot) $30

2 Dollies for trash cans-$35 each home depot only again-$70

Wood and screws for table-$30

Bulkheads, pipe, glue, primer, ball valves, couplings, Teflon tape, hose clamp, hose barb, nipples and hose-$75

Always having RO/DI, Salt water, waste water and saving on the water bill......priceless….for everything else there’s Visa!

-Side note- if I were to do this over again I would have used an IBC container but with the room I hid they will not really fit easy.
Also buy the trash cans in bulk from an on line dealer...these cans are expensive but they are high quality and thick so they will not bow with the water weight like the cheaper cans will. So do not use cheap thin cans. It will cost around $400 at least the way I did it but it is worth it and figure in about a years time it will match the water I save. My washer takes 30 gallon to fill!

As for the new tank I have not had any time to work on it yet...

As for hosting a meeting, the house is small but the backyard is big compared to the house, with 2 BBQ!...but my tank is coming out of stress so maybe in a few months don't want to show you at it's worst.

More two cents.....that table won't hold that weight without some sort of bracing in the middle, either triangulation or direct compression shoring, 3x40 gallons = 120 gals or 1200 pounds, give or take. For those who like exacts....120 gallons=454 liters= 454 kilos= 1001 pounds(rounded). I don't know if you have run the RO system before but mine makes a trash can of water (brine) before it fills up a 5 gallon jug of RO/DI. I have Kent Hi-S 60gpd rig. Maybe the booster pump helps efficiency? I don't have one. It is a great idea to save the run off though. I run mine into my pond before I back wash the filter. Used to use the water for my birds, greenhouse stuff and the pressure washer.
AS I offered before, I have a ridiculous amount of tools and stuff that you are welcome to use. I also have the ability to weld stainless and aluminum if you want to get real fancy!
Just ask!

I'll be using your tools and knowledge for teh LED light i just need to wait fro more funds to roll in....give me 2 months. As for your wast water the booster pumps helps alot. I use to have about 10 gallons of waste for every one gallon of good. But i put the booster pump on and it cut in half. Big differnace, just don't run the filter above 60 PSI or your water quaility will go down IMO. But it may be better with a bigger unit. Also mine is RO/DI yous is RO so i have a bit more waste.
As for the weight on the table I'm going to add a middle brace today. all the buckets are 3/4 full and it is jsut starting to bow. So for saftey I'll add 2 more 4 by 4's to the middle. I only had a 2 by 4 under the table...but hey i jsut looked at the time I gotta go abalone diving later

Shane,

I'm guessing you have the wheels on the Garbage cans to roll them in and out of the house. I don't know if you've scene the setup with PVC piping to and from the tank sump so as to have to move or carry water. I have a setup that Mike and Jeff setup for me and it's really sweet and no moving water.

Looks good you could've just ran a length of ro tubing out to your flowerbed though or someplace and saved the $40 for that can especially since that can will fill up probably 2-3x as fast as the ro/di cans...usually is 1g of good ro/di to about 3-5g of waste water..

When i get a house I'll run the pipe to the sump and waste water to a 175 gallon IBC container on a drip system for the garden. I'm renting for now but looking to buy a house in the next few months (like 6-8 months) just waiting for my job to tell me where i will be.....it's hard to wait.

I will check my H2O pressure to see if I need a booster pump. I just never considered it before. Just got my water bill! OUCH! What sucks is that they charge sewer based on water usage. Most of my water goes into the atmosphere so this is unjust! I trying to be greeeeeeen here!
It is funny how crafty we get trying to conserve water. Our parents would have just ran the water down the street!
