just curious if this could maybe be a problem but my maroon clown spends alot of its time swimming in the very corner of my tank close to the top, oh and it hasnt gone to the anemone yet and its been almost a week??

some clowns take longer to bond to nems then others. What kind of nem is it? The clown may not like the nem and may have established a territory in the corner instead. Be patent. I have heard that those clownfish clips for algae sheets are helpful to get a clown to take a host. apparently placing the clip above the nem helps.
Not to sound negative, but the clown may just not want to pair with the nem, it is possible that the clown will never pair w/ the nem.

How long have you had the clown? Mine did the same thing for a while when he was first introduced (and still at night-time.)
I feel your pain about the hosting... I'm a week in with no success yet either. I've heard a few people say 2 weeks is an average time, but it can take months or not happen at all (but lets not think of that eventuality!)

haha mine has been in there exactly a week also, but its two tank raised maroons and a LTA
so im just gonna wait it out and watch
