I started this tank about five weeks ago. I used live rock, some substrate, and water from an established 55 gallon FOWLR that I have at my parents house in Oklahoma.
It is a 29 gallon with a Current 130watt pc. There is about 35# of LR right now with about 15 more pounds curing. The tank has cycled pretty quickly and seems to be coming along pretty quickly. There was some green hari algae on the rocks from the 55, but that is quickly going away. I have set up a small sump refugium with a 4" deep sand bed with caulerpa growing in it. It has an Aqualine 75 protein skimmer in the sump. Return is being handled by a Rio 2100(soon to change to a Mag7 that I purchased from one of the forum memers here). There is one cheap powerhead in the tank, I want to upgrade this in the next few weeks to a couple smaller Seio's. In the picture you can see a HOB filter(yes it is a Skilter shell) that has a carbon filter in it as well as a bag of purigen. The "skimmer" section of the filter is gone, never did anything five years ago when I bought it anyway.
Anyway, I am very open to constructive criticism, so fire away.
Currently there is a clean up crew in the tank, several snails and crabs. The livestock includes a couple green chromis and a lawnmover blenny who is fatter then a tick. There are a couple candy cane corals, star polyps, two colonies of xenia, a colony of mushrooms, an anthelia frag, and some yellow polyps. I have a couple areas that are covered with sponges, they are hard to get pictures of though.
I have a background for the tank, but have not installed it yet as I am torn between putting it on or painting the back of the tank, or buying a 240 gallon tank. I have also moved the heater to the sump as of yesterday.
Anyway, here it is.
