My nano stream is already dead?

I got my nano stream 6025 with the first batch to come out & its not working anymore!!!!!

Its on a 30 min off and on timer.

It worked great to start with, alittle over a week ago I started getting some chatter out of it.

Now as of 3 days ago it wont spin!!!! I've checked it for anything blocking the impellers & nothing I can see. It turns on and just vibrates... no spinning. I gave it a little tap against the glass and it started spinning. Next time it was cycled to come on it just vibrated again with no spinning.

Is this an oddball defect or has anyone else had a problem?

What can I do???

I think you will find the shaft came out of its socket. The motor is still energized and working fine. The only possibility is the prop blades are damaged, the magnet is cracked or the shaft came loose, open the pump and check these things.

Just pull the face off the pump and check out the propeller. If you are getting a hum the motor itself is still working, only the prop is not spinning. Perhaps something is jamming it or the shaft came free and just needs to be reinserted. I will be out of town this Friday- Sunday. If you cannot get it working, send it in.

The shaft (the stainless steel rod )on mine is not glued in. It fell out when I cleaned it. Should there be a fixed. glued shaft? Someone on another thread said that his shaft was not glued in and thus created the problem.

When it turns on the prop is bouncing back and forward so much that it is dislodging the shaft. I took it apart and tapped the shaft in but the problem still continues. It does not seem that these were made to be turned on and off at all let alone every 15 minutes. If I can get it running, I think I will leave it off any timing device. So far the nano stream has been nothing but headaches for me. The reason I bought the nano stream was because I wanted to see how the professionals/ factory made wavemaking pumps performed. However, my MJ mods are more reliable.

I took apart my pump tonight too.

The rod is supose to be glue'd into what part? the base of the pump? if so mine is not, the little silver rod comes out.

The magnet is not cracked that I can see...

Please let me know when you get back next week!

The post inserts into a hole at the bottom of the pump, if you look in a bright light you should see the hole and you just press it down in there firmly, if it doesn't fit right let me know and we will exchange the motor block.

Hi Roger, Thank you for your assistance. The shaft fits in the hole snug, however, when the prop starts it will dislodge the shaft sometimes. I also noticed that the shaft is not perfectly centered when inserted into the hole. So I guess it does not fit right. I will pm you my address. Can these pumps handle restarting every 30 minutes?

Mine seems to dislodge when its turned on too. I tried to push it back in the hole 4 times. I've sent you a PM roger.

one of my two 2 week old nano stream 6025's developed this chatter rattle noise tonight too, took it apart and this shaft fell right out... sounds excactly as you describe above :(

I have a different problem on one of my 6025s -- the front "cage" that snaps into the back, the part holding the motor, came loose on either side surrounding the power cord. The power cord was not mounted properly and was pushing the front cage out from the back which caused the prop to rub against the cage and stop. I Dremelled out some more space for the cord, but had to zip tie the cage onto the back.

It works OK.

But I'm also faintly disappointed; after two or three weeks, both 6025s have become louder than they were when I first got them.

The 6045, however, is running like a champ and is much quieter than either 6025.

Can you point me towards the distributor in Canada?

Thanks, Roger!

not good news to hear, I feel a constant problem with these coming up...

Hopefully I can get mine replaced? I wrote to marine depot as well since I bought them there on 12/7/2006.... :(

Rattling :-(

Rattling :-(

I got the first batch too and have a horrible rattle. I took apart the nano stream and nothing was stuck in the shaft to cause the rattling. It seems the silver rod is completely straight so the propellar must be spinning correctly. Anyone have any clue as to what might be causing the rattling? The guide rod was in its little slot so I don't know what it can be :( :(

Edit: I run my Nano Stream 24/7 if that helps any

I have explained before each part is made with a specific tolerance and if all parts are assembled and each part in some cases are at an extreme of the accepted tolerance they don't fit right. We found these problems after nearly one thousand were sold and took to further inspecting and more tedious hand assembly of everything made since late November. Even so, very few of these first thousand pumps have any problems and they are usually due to the shaft coming undone or the hole in the propeller being slightly too wide. The tooling has already been corrected and the productions starting in January should be trouble free and without the need for so much hand labor. If you have a problem pump, just send it in and we will fix it within 24hrs of receipt, all of our products have a 2year warranty and we stand by what we make. Regarding a loose fitting screen, the plastic is a very flexible, durable plastic and my experience has been that such a pump was crushed a bit in transit and you need only take the cage off, squeeze the motor housing down to flex the plastic back into more of a sphere and then reassemble.

Thanks, Roger!

I just talked to someone at Xenia -- I'll have both a dampening kit for my skimmer and new pumps in a few days :)

Makes a big note to self: Deltec and Tunze might be more pricey than the competition, but I LOVE the way both companies stand behind both their products and their distributors.
