my new LTA has a small cut that it either got in my tank or that i didnt see. it has these little white stringy looking things coming out of the area and some of its tenticles are deflated as well as the mouth being open a bit. what can i do to help my anemone make a recovery? it has been fed fresh bait shrimp and some formula 2. lighting consits of 2 250 watt MH on a 55g tank. i may be able to take some pics but it will be hard because the area where the cut is is located under the nems disc which is currently open. thanks in advance,

Mark

PS also if it makes a difference i just added this LTA to my tank two days ago. was fine yesterday and the night before so i dont know what happened.

anyone???? im really worried about it as its condition hasent changed yet. it did eat a little bit yesterday but today its mouth is open and some more tenticles are deflated. also the cut area dosent have the little white stringy things coming out of it anymore.

It sis acclimating to the water in your tank. The white stringy stuff is completley normal all the anemones I have acclimatred have done that for some odd reason.

try to feed the anemone to see if the tentacles are sticky.

What are your water parameters?

how did you acclimate him?

i dont have a test kit at my house to test but my LFS does it for me and i havent had it done this week. i have fed the anemone yesterday and the day before and it is very very sticky. as for acclimation, i preformed the drip method for 45 min before introduction into the tank. the whole time he was in the bag, he stayed open with his mouth open a little bit. once in the aquarium he settled right in half under a rock and by the time of lights out he was open and his mouth was closed. on Saturday, he was opened up nicly all afternoon and into the evening with his mouth slightly open towards the night. then on Sunday he had deflated tenticles and his mouth was open quite a bit. it is now currently halfway closed. i really hope this is just part of the acclimation to my tank water as i dont want to lose this beautiful specimen.

thanks,

Mark
