My new 100 gallon build

Alright so now I'm on summer break I finally am upgrading my 50 gallon starphire cube (24x24x20) to a 100 gallon (60x 18 1/2 x 23 3/8)! It's only been a year and a few months since I've started the 50 which was my first salt water and reef tank ever, but I got bit by the bug early. It's actually kinda scary because I'm only 21 so who knows how big I'll go by the time I'm 30 lol. Anyways I purchased the tank and stand about two weeks ago, had a corner overflow put in and black silicone, got the stand unfinished to save some money and will be building the canopy myself. So far I've stained and polyurethaned the stand a pretty red mahogany and painted the back and left pane of the tank black. I bought a 40 R for the sump, had some acrylic baffles cut at a local plastic shop here in San Diego and installed them with DAP aquarium silicone from HD. Also bought pretty much all the equipment and sand all that's left to get is live rock which I'll get once I get some water. I'm going to use natural sea water from our Scripps pier which is basically for a big aquarium in La Jolla, Ca called the Stephen Birch Aquarium. It's pumped from the sea floor at the end of the pier and goes through some sand filters, it's pretty good from what I've heard and it's free!

Here's some pictures of what I've done so far...

That's pretty much it, all that's left to do is the plumbing, add water, rock and build canopy. Lights will be hung until that's done.

Looking good so far. any updates? Also I see you chose black silicone. Do you still like the Black silicone? What was the reason for you to not go with clear?

Yeah I'll post a update after this post. The reason behind the black silicone for me if mostly because I like the way it looks. Another reason I wanted black was because the silicone gets dirty just like the glass and with the black its not noticeable. Kind of a lazy thing lol, cleaning the silicone isn't necessary when its black.

Been a while since I've updated, never really got much attention anyways but why not do it. I had a really nice asd rainbow millie that I lost to a millie nipping blue tang but other than that everything has been good and growth is great.

Earlier days.

Water change a few days ago

Crappy full tank shot after WC, need to get rid of a few softies and clean up the sand bed but other than that I'm happy with my tank.
