My new 120

Sounds good. What gph rating is that LG? I'm a little concerned about the noise of the PCX-55 in the kitchen. Anyone have any experience with that pump?

Chris

Looking awesome Chris! Off to a good start. Next time i'm up in dallas i'll have to stop by and check out the setup in person.

If you wanted I would suggest getting those american DJ power stations. You can switch off each outlet for each plug and it just plugs into one outlet. So you could have 4 off those 4 GFCI outlets you have if i'm correct. That way you dont have to worry about wiring correctly and such. Looking good

Keep up the good work

Ram

Yea, I had one on my old tank, it wasn't the American DJ version, but it was very similar to it. Functioned the same. I also have a Reefkeeper. I'm thinking of buying a 2nd power center and mounting them like this:

Let me know when you are in Dallas next, maybe you can bring by a new reactor for me to try out :D

Chris

Yea, that would be perfect. lol, i'll get into contact with you when i head up there. Hopefully i can get up there at the end of july. Ram

Sounds good. I should be in most of the weekends in July.

I'm going to finish the plumbing tonight and then I'll post some new pictures.

Hey Chris,

Looks Good.

Did you wire the dedicated outlets to the breaker box yourself?

I need to do this and wondered how difficult/dangerous it was. I read up on it and it seems fairly straightforward.

Thanks

Steve

Steve,
It wasn't that difficult, running the wire was the most difficult part. My father-in-law helped me w/ the breakers. Be sure to either a) cut power to the whole box or b) be careful around the hot lines.

Chris

love that power center is this on the new tank or the old one if it was on the old can you give info on what you used and where you got it yould like to do a few things like this

thanks chad

Thanks Ram. That picture was just a reference to what I'm going to copy.

Thanks Dizzi, that's what my wife thinks, and secretly so do I.

Well, I finally got most of the plubming done, at least the plumbing to the sump. I had a little issue w/ the 1.5" returns from the mag 9.5 pump, so I ended up scrapping it to go w/ 3/4" instead. I know this will limit the flow (according to the flow calculator ~ 200 gph) but the majority of the flow in the tank will be handled by my CL and penductors. The mag pump is a little noisy, at least more noisy then I remember it being. I tried to put a small mouse pad underneath it, but it seems to be transferring the noise and vibration to the pipe. Should I install a small portion of flex pvc to help this?

I still have to install the CL and the skimmer plumbing, but I'm waiting on some spa flex glue. I hung the light brackets as well.

And on to the pictures.

I forgot to mention that I mocked up my DIY calcium reactor yesterday while we were having a garage sale. Didn't take but 20 minutes to cut the pvc. I've got to glue and fit all the pieces but that shouldn't take too long. It's based off wmTasker's thread on RC: (I used 1/2" pvc instead of flex tubing based on page 5 of that thread, em21701's design)

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=587186

I still have to get the regulator, etc. but I have the reactor done. Can't beat that for only $65.

very nice! Could you tell me some more info about your stand? How did you design(from scratch or plans or some DIY thread/website)? Sorry if you already posted about this...

I have heard of them before and stuff but dont rember what are those flare nozzle type thigns that are on your returns? I assume that they distribute the flow in a favorible way.

Chrisrush

I see you went with the starboard reef in your 120. I have pretty much the same setup. Have you been to my website? www.120gallonreefs.com I really like your power center. Where did you get it? I've been planning on doing something like that for my reef.

I very interested to see how you plumb the CL. I am doing the exact same thing with my pcx55 and 2 penductors.

Question:

Have you considered using loc-line for the penductors? I saw a picture somewhere on RC where a guy used it, and it looked like he could shoot the penductor wherever he wanted. It also looked very cool also, almost mechanical. I wish I could find that picture :(

Noschwag:
Yea, I have some locline but I can't figure out how to hook up the penductors w/ the locline. I bought some male adapters but for some reason, it doesn't work. I'm going to take a quick picture and see if anyone can figure it out.

Wmtasker:
I looked at your website the other day, very nice. I haven't started on the power center yet, I think that I got that off the socalcreations thread.

phergus_25:
If you are talking about the returns for my CL, then those are penductors. I bought them from Andy at MRC. They are supposed to distribute the flow 5x normal.

bassman57:
You can pm Josh (grim-bob) and see what software he used. He actually helped me cut the steel back in March.
