I did however get the rest of the frags mounted and got the fuge transferred from the rubbermaid tub.

Let me ask you guys this: Is there any reason not to put a couple fish in the fuge? (maybe chromis or something else that doesn't eat algae) The main focus of this one is nutrient export, not pod production so I'm not concerned if the fish eat the pods.

Most of my old corals (from the 55) have turned brown or mostly brown, but it's understandable. They've been in 3 tanks and changed salt brands within the last 5 days. They'll come back just fine.

The tank is split between 2 circuit breakers. Unfortunately, the one the controller is on is near capacity. Turns out, if the chiller was running, all it took was to try to use the paper shredder to trip it. I was going to build a relay so the chiller could be controlled on one circuit but draw it's power from the other circuit. Then today I realized my controller can control the DC8 strip plus control X-10 devices. Duh. I put the chiller on an X-10 on the other circuit, problem solved.

I tried to get a good picture of the reverse dursos in the sump, but it's tough once it's full of stuff and running. I should have done it while building it.

In this picture you can see the 1" fuge drain durso in the front, and the 1.5" tank drain durso in the back. The tank drain comes in at a 45 degree angle, so the vent pipe exits at a 45 degree angle to the left.

Totally silent.

I got the VHOs working! We took the canopy off and I found the loose connection. Once they were working, we very gently lifted it back into place.

Who knows. I took all the wires out of the endcaps and re-inserted them. It still didn't work so I nudged the end caps a little tighter on the bulbs. That didn't work so I just pushed on everything again, and it worked.

A thread in the FRAG forum just reminded me to test my UPS. It runs my Mag 24 return for just under 10 minutes. That's good enough for most power outages, but I think rather than the return pump, I'll put a SEIO 600 on UPS. That'll give circulation and last a lot longer.

Once the UPS recharges I'll see how long it runs a 600.

Ok, so I just went and bought another sheet of plywood for the doors rather than trying to straighten the warped ones. I got them cut out, hinges mounted, and the backside painted. I used a chisel to inset the hinges flush so the trim will cover it right up. Quite innovative if I must say so myself, considering all the options I had for mounting. None of the other ways really worked out, and they don't make hinges that do what I need them to do.

Tomorrow I'll trim them and start the stain coats. And post some pics.

Here's the durso for the refugeum. I superglued a grid of fishing line so snails and what-not won't get into the drain line and clog it.

I accidentally squished my clownfish with a rock during the switch, but I have to get another one. One LFS in town has 1/2 inch ones for $30. I just cant pay that for a 1/2 inch clownfish.

The three risky combinations are the Tangs, the painted wrasses, and the royal grammas. I think the key was adding all fish at the same time to an unfamilliar tank. There has been no aggression whatsoever. The Tangs scool, the wrasses hang out together, and the royal grammas hang out together. All fish are out all the time, nobody ever hides.

the 1/2 inch clown might be worth it if they are tank bred. Super hardy and usually never die of stress or disease. But as you know raising fry is a very labor intensive and difficult feat to achieve.

This morning I got the doors built and the first coat of stain on them. After a couple more coats and a few coats of clearcoat, I should be able to put them on tomorrow evening.

I finally got the doors on! The octogon trim pieces turned really yellow sitting in the garage because I waited too long before finishing them, but after sanding and staining they're much better. It's really not as apparrent in person as it is in this photo.

Mike, is this an older photo? I thought you had the fish and rock in the tank.

Did you have to remove everything in the tank to get the doors on?!
