My new 215

Lets build it. I want to go top of the line for acros and gonis... I will be buiding this over a long period of time... FIRST overflow tank so what should i buy first... Turbo said to buy the sump. What sump should I get that can fit 72x30 roughly.

Is it going in the stand, basement, sump room, etc.? Give us some ideas as to what your plan is. In Gonis, do you mean Gonipora? That may or may not be a challenge, Gonipora, tend to like a more nutrient rich water than say the Acros. Now high end monti's, chalices, basically LPS and SPS would be easier to maintain, just my opinion. Again, let us know a little more of your plans and I'm sure we'll have opinions on what to do. Have a good one.

under tank sump. Can't go drilling holes ... wife wont allow it. I want to have the beautiful hard corals... not too much specific... I dont know much about them. Again, i am open to your suggestions since my ignorance in bliss.

I would start with reading up on the corals and livestock you want to keep. Visit different fish stores in your region and search the Large Reefs thread for folks that have the same size tank as you. See what they've done, ask them what they'd do differently if they had to do it over again, and get inspired. But absolutely, research what you'd like to keep before you start.

That being said, I'd go get some Lumearcs and some nice MH lights and start wiring. Fit the biggest sump you can get under there, with still having enough room to remove it - same goes for the skimmer big and easily removed. Go grab a couple of SeaSwirls or a couple Vortechs, and have at it.

Think about things electrical devices heating and cooling, and temperatures changing with the seasons. Keeping these things in mind, you should have no problem.

If the concern is messing up your shiny new Oceanic tank, TFP offers drilling, which when they do it maintains the manufacturer’s original warranty. It may be a hassle to get it back down to TFP, but they shouldn’t charge too much to do this. Screen name "TFP Marine Biologist" on the That Fish Place forum of RC.com (real name Dave) can give you a price quote on any work like this.

i think he has a RR tank, cant really tell from the pics but it looks like a single overflow in the center. I think his wife wont let him drill holes to run into anther room???

Rule # 3.... Get to know the owners of Aquarium Specialties, Premium Aquatics, and a few others "BUY" first names...LoL
