My new 215

I got the stand pipes and returns installed. They are the oceanic ones. The appear to be barbed onthe bulkhead. Does this sound odd. I was thinking of using schedule 40 PVC or flex tube..... Pros and cons?

Your easiest solution for water flow would be 2 vortech mp40s. Skip running the 4 koralias with controllers. The vortechs blow them out of the water.

Would that be sufficient for SPS?

We have water, im filling it up with a 50 GPD rev-o.

I purchase 3 40 breeders at the sale. They look reasonable but the overflow and bottom seals need to be redone. Buying silicone.

I also bought two drilled tens... one hole for 10 bucks each. Cannot beat that. They were capped at the bulkhead. Im just going to grab my cutter and cut the plug out. They dont leak.

Did my first test today

Ammonia @ 1034 PM : .5
Nitrite @ 1036 : 1
Nitrate @ 1039 : 80
PH: 7.8

This was test of the baking live rock I got a few days ago.

Save your nitrate kits until Ammonia and Nitrite reach 0, it'll read all over the place and isn't accurate. Looks like you are cycling tho. :bum:

what live rock are you using or did you get that base rock from pet solutions?

I got 50 live from that fish place (Solomon Island, that spaghetti-looking acro skeleton ****, then 100 from petsolutions.com

So i got my two mags hooked up for 2400 gallons per hour of power. The only think is, the water hits glass brace, should this not happen. I was going to go into TFP today and buy a regulator for the second pump.
I am running on one pump right now at 1200 gph.

Too much water into the tank. Shut off one of the pumps for now as I brainstorm a solution. The rock is now in the tank with the dead rock, let the cycle begin i suppose.

I made a stupid mistake that may kill my live rock... I put the sand in without cleaning it free of dust... the dust has settled on my rock and I think may have killed the bacteria. I was in a hurry since my life was also in pre-labor at that very moment. She wanted the bags of sand gone and was yelling. Yikes! The water has cleared but I am a bit worried that the beneficial bacteria is gone. You can see something on the rock but Im not sure. The tank appears to be cycling though. The ammonia is at 1 now.

Let me know if you know of any ways to regain control here.
