My new 400 G tank

So her fins were removed, or were they merely clipped? You trying to keep her from running/swimming/flying away? :D

Ya, glad those fins weren't removed! Those are an inspiration for my mermaid!

I miss those silly fish, but don't miss taking care of them. I actually have more time now to finish building the (Snap-on..you ready?) full roller, aluminum head, Hampton blown 383 and sliding it into the Nova.

Hey Snap-On, We're headin' over on the 11th for two weeks. When/where is the local drag night and local cruise night?

Jeff

Road Gilde eh?
Yep, when they get the cushy seat, control of the tunes, and can still yell at you over the intercom about your driving, the girls just can't get enough. :D
I hear the dealers can be pretty hard about giving good trades though.
I can try and get out early enough to ride up Thurs. I'll keep ya posted.

It WAS on Fridays, cruising Wikes (waikiki) with races at Cambells or Sandys but no longer. Since the rice rockets have taken over the place, I don't know where anyone is. It's pretty much of a bummer, but hey, we still have the prettiest mermaids around. ;) Maybe you can go diving, check out waikiki aquarium again, or go babe watching. All fun activities. LOL About the nova, sounds like fun to me man. Post a pic sometime. My first ride was a 63 nova at age 13. I miss that thing. :( Ask your wife if she remembers a white 57 baby (oval) window bug named ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œCocaineââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ cruising the island. It was the second fastest on the isle next to guava jam. Was mine, hehe, miss that even more. Latter

Well it looks like we have a slight change in the game plan. The mermaid decided that she would like a different view of the tank.

So this is the new plan:
The tank will now be moved with one end up against the wall to our bedroom next to the french doors. On that wall, there will be a hole approx. 3' X 2 1/2' that will be framed like a picture so that she can see down the length of the tank from the bedroom.

The rest of the tank, front and other end, will be seen from the sunroom. I've got to do a little rearranging of the equipment, but I think I can make it work. With the tank like this, there will be a 2' passageway behind the tank. I plan on putting a door at the end so that I can have access to the back of the tank.

It may be a while before I update any pics. Along with this new "idea" of her's, I need to raise the tank 1' so that it will be at a higher level on the bedroom side. I'm going to build a extension to the stand and weld it to the bottom of the existing stand when I move the system into the new room. Wish me luck that I can pull this off.

Do you guys have kids yet? Planning on any? Having that "window" into your bedroom might explain just how Nemo was born.

LOL. Got two already. The oven's been fixed. ;) no more to come.

Well I tried yesterday to get her to decide on a color for the room so I could paint teh drywayy. About as far as I got was to have her to re-agree, yea she had at one time agreed on it but changed her mind, to but a wansecoating beadbord pine on the lower half of the wall. I'm going to stain it with a oak stain so that it matches teh doors. I'm also going this weekend to pick up the lamanate flooring in a medium colored cherry. I did pick up some 2" think oak that I will be making my door thresholds out of. So I'll be busy on the room for a while. I'll post more pics as I progress.

Yesterday, I got to go and take a mini tour of seacrop, one of the supporters here on RC and the home of the famous nano frag pack. One of our club members got a part time job there and I worked out a deal to trade some zoo's for???

i wound up getting a bunch of different types of snails, some pepermint shrimp, pair of mandrins and a pair of spoted mandrins for the big tank along with a blue ridge coral frag. Nice little business they have going and they are getting more into propagating corals and growing them out. I was talking to the husband about their greenhouse growout and he said that even with the cover and cloudy days, he gets more par in those tanks than he does in the indoor ones with Mh lighting. The only problem he said was that it's not the right spectrum that everyone uses and so you don't see all the colors in the corals like you would under MH. I did see a nice purple tip SPS that was out in the greenhouse and was showing that color outside, I wonder what it would look like under some good spectrum MH lights?

Later.

Hey MM,
Long time no hear from. Hope all is going well with you. Well since you asked, I'll update everything today.

The fish are all doing great, their eating like pigs. I don't know if I posted already but the hawaiian wrasse climbed in the back of the rocks and died. he was doing great and eating, then one day disappeared. :( I have found a home for the vlamingi and the foxface. I have a RC member with a 10' long 350 G tank that is going to trade me a couple of large clams for them.

Everything else is good. I've since added a few new inhabitants. I now have added a 3" pacific blue tang, 3" male Watanabei angel, a harem of 5 royal gramas, multi-colored wrasse, carpenters wrasse and a filimiant wrasse. I've also moved my large bubble coral along with the toadstool leather into the tank. I added a frag of a nice green/purple rim monti cap, blue ridge coral, some purple & green yumma's and another plating coral frag I got from a friends tank that came on his live rock. he didn't have the lights to support it.

I'm now running 3 X 400 W DE MH pendantes. 2 X 20K coralvue and 1 14K hamilton. I like the hammy's and will go with 4 of them when I get the tank moved into it's permanant spot.

I've taken down teh sprinkler head set up for now as the pump was eating up the electricity. I also replaced thepool filter pump with a reflo hammerhead pump for the same reason. It has more flow w/ 1/3 the power consumption. I put the 2 Iwakia pumps back on for returns and they just flow to 2 manifolds on top of the tank.

As for the room, I finished off teh wansecoating bead board pine instillation today. I think that was the hardest job so far on theis room. When the rain stops and I get a few good days of weather, I'll be pouring the self leveling compound in the room in prepration to start the tank move in the new room.

Well that's it for now, I'll post some new pic's when I get teh chance.

what happend 2 the mermaid?

GEEZE!!! give it a rest, this is horible, putting your wife on display ... in your ... display... tank.

I have still yet to see this really odd wrasse everyone is talking about!

I'm sorry to say but the wrasse passed away. Here's some new pics for you.

Pretty royal grammas! Have you had trouble with them fighting? I'm considering getting 3 for my 75 and am trying to get opinions on if they would fight.

Brian

I put 5 of them in all at once. I think I might have lost one as I can only count 4 of them at any one time. They've seemed to have found their own little spots and will defend that little area but other than that, they swim around loosly together. 3 may be ok in a 75 if you get them all at once and of the same size. Good luck.

He did it for his buddies man. He didn't think the thread would get the attention it's getting, it was just for a few of us that know him. Nothing so horrible about that, we like looking at his wife.

Nice work Ray, everything looks really well done. ;)

Thanks. I start pouring the floor this weekend to get it level. Then I have to get the steps/platform built and I should be able to get the permits signed off after that. Then the fun begins of setting up the new tank in there and installing the wood floor. It's getting close.

Hey fellows I read your whole thread tonight and was falling out of my chair, it looks like your doing great on your project Chief, I was in the Navy 81-85 on the Ike. Brown shoe if you know what I mean :) Look in my galleries at my hog, or should say my last hog (more to come) I think you can figure out which one is me :) Sounds like we have some of the same interest. As a matter of fact Marc I bought one of your RO/DI systems last year. I will be looking forward to seeing the finished room and tank, as I'm planning a bigger tank but not that big, say 180 to 240 :)
