For best results in my opinion even if you choose choose the 120 degree beam models, I'd go with 3 units. If you grow LPS & soft corals, 2 will be sufficient.

Your tank is absolutely beautiful keep all the pics coming by the way I think your a little to hard on yourself your tank looks amzing lol. Looks like it took alot of hard work.

If you have to do it over, would you choose PR156 or DIF-100 pendant?

I think that Three DIF-100 18000K + Two DIF-50 Blue+UV for 72Lx36Wx27H tank will be great setup, especially thanks to the wider spread of the DIF units.
I have a very deep tank and needed narrower lens for deeper penetration and more units to cover in (PR156). I'm using 2 DIF100B as an actinic addition.

10-24" off the water is suggested for proper spread.
I was thinking I would need 3-4 but several times they said 2 W's would do it and still grow SPS at the bottom very well.
What's your take on this also how do you feel about the way they are mounted to the ceiling? If you could do that part again what would you do?
My concern is that if I'm sitting below tank level and looking at the tank the LED's will glare into my eyes.

For your tank sizes I'd recommend 4 unit of DIF156 since you want to grow SPS corals and need wider area spread of light. You should consider their PR100 light fixtures too.
My fixtures don't really glare into my eyes since led light is not spread that wide. Think of a "laser beam" effect. My MH fixtures were glaring much more.

Both.
I can't say which factor has more responsibility for this outcome but in fact, algae growth has declined significantly.
I guess both, PUR and lack of light on the front and side glass helped.
Maybe high PUR or Photosynthetically Usable Radiation is that fraction of PAR that is absorbed by zooxanthellae has less effect on algae (Chlorophyll photosynthesis).
Sounds great. I checked with some of the other colleagues who uses LEDs (DIY) and they also reported a reduction in the algae in the front glass.
Do you also notice a reduction in the coraline algae growth in your front and side glass. This is actual more annoying to me than regular algae since I can easily use my magnet cleaner to get rid of standard green algae.

I'm also in a quandry, deciding on the LED route.
Whats your take on these units in support of SPS, healthy growth and their colour? I've always been a MH fan, I've had good colouration from my 400w units. My system is mostly SPS, and is in full sunlight (I only use the MH lighting unit, for 4 months of year in winter). The foot print of these units (the PR-156W's) appeal to me as it will allso allow the corals to get sun during the day, although its night time 5-6 hours max, when I want to view the tank that I want un-natural light.
Your input on the quantity? I have a Rimless, 78inch length x 40inch wide x 26inch height.

Metal Halides work great. Very good light and very wide spread.
Led can replace them and in your case and can grow SPS coral successfully.
colors and growth achieved even better than MH. Just pay attention to KH and CA levels due to high demand.
I'd use 5 units for your tank size, but using sun light as you describe can reduce to 4 units in my opinion.
