While taking pictures of the clams, I spotted the little white Anemone crab sitting up in the GBTA up high on the rocks.

You might be right, the one that scooted about 3 1/2 feet in the tank was at the front and moved to the back, where I know there isn't much flow, but it now sits under a ledge where there isn't all that much light..go figure...

grab it out and put it on a rock. Try to get it cradled in a crevace between rocks and see if it stays put. don't let it stay too long without enough light or it will croak.

Croceas: intense light
Derasas: Semi intense
Maximas: medium-low
Squamosas: semi-to low
Gigas: someone chime in

All clams need calcium and alkalinity to be spot on. Also, clams feed on nutrients, and plankton.

What are the best numbers for the calcium & alkalinity for the clams? Water tests done today had calcium @ 420 & alkalinity @ 10.6

clams actually like the salinity a bit "rich" too, at around 1.026. Your current numbers for Ca and alk are just fine for them.

Salinity today was 1.023, trying to slowly raise that up.

That will help I am sure. Really for a mixed reef, all the big tank owners I know keep them at 1.026. Of course that means you don't get quite as much water out of a bucket of salt, but that's the way it goes...ain't nothing a little money can't cure!

Do you guys use buckets or boxes of salt? I've been able to get my hands on boxes containing 4 bags of salt. Each makes 50 gallons of salt water. I've found it makes water changes real easy, as I dont have to measure the salt, just fill a 50 gallon drum and dump in a bag. Actually I just ordered 15 more boxes today. Cant wait to load them and unload them to and from my car.

Buckets here, what brand are you using?

I just got 18 boxes myself. I try to only buy the boxes because I can't deal with a hundred buckets laying around.

Have you tried selling them to LFS? (Buckets)

I've been using instant ocean. I too have alot of buckets. come in handy when you're moving houses though. I gave mine away to a LFS. Maybe I should have sold them!

No. I just give them away, but you bring up a good point. I could probably sell them in my store to the boaters. :D

First, I have been following the progress of your tank since day 1. It has been an interesting trip.

Second, Thanks for the Live Cam. Your tank looks vibrant and full of life.

Now for my reason for posting, while watching your tank this morning, I saw more activity then usual and some interesting floating objects in your tank.

I will stop now and let you update the world.

yup I see floaters too! boxes...
I ordered 7 clams & two anemones and I get 7 clams, two anemones & 26 medium - large corals. The salesman padded my order by about $550.00 not to mention a freight charge of $200. Was not a happy camper.
