My New 8Ft. 240 Gallon Reef Tank!

Here is my 240 Gallon reef tank. It has been up and running now for just over three weeks. I got 175lbs. of live rock and I plan on adding some more. I am just getting over my initial diatom bloom, the new clean up crew that I am getting should take care of the rest. I have a Sequence Hammerhead running my closed loop w/ 6 outlets and two drains, all run through an Ocean Motions 4-way. So two CL returns are always constant. I used a 125 gallon for my sump/refugium with a Sequence 4200 return pump. Also inside the sump area I have an ATI bubblemaster 250 skimmer, which by far exceeded my expectations. So together I am running at 10,000 gph for circulation, between my closed loop and return. For lighting, I have 4X400 watt metal halides, 2 400's are run by Coralvue Ballasts with Reeflux 12k bulbs(love the color) and the other 2 ballasts are PFO HQI. Which as you can see I run a couple of different bulbs, just to see the Kelvin temp that I like, but I think that I will be going all Reeflux 12K's. I do supplement with 2 72" VHO Super Actinics run by an Icecap 660 ballast. Take a look at let me know what you think.. I will have more pictures coming. THe pics below are just with the 2 400 watt PFO's on.

Nice Job! You have a great start with a solid lineup of equipment.

Are you using a controller?

How do you like that skimmer? Do you have troubles with microbubbles?

Can't wait to see some pictures with coral in that tank. Are you going to keep an sps tank or a mixed tank?
Cheers

Your foam work looks really nice too. Can you post bigger pictures, I am squinting and still cant see anything it there.

You can keep squinting LOL I don't have anything in it just yet, it has been cycling for just under a month now.

I love the skimmer, I have not personally witnessed or heard about a skimmer working this good. Just an example, I clean the skimmer out, and afterwards I dosed some trace elements. Well, a few hours later i am looking at the tank, and checked out the skimmer, and now I had Blue Skimmate, I guess the skimmer pulled out all the trace elements that quick. And I get no microbubbles what so ever.

I am going to keep a mixed tank, but with a heavy emphasis on SPS.

And I tried to post larger images, but it will not let me post anything larger than 100KB. So this is the largest I could get. If anyone knows how to get them bigger, let me know.

I just host my photos on photobucket, then copy the link from there and paste it in where you type your post. Always seems to work fine for me. The only bad thing is if you ever delete the pics from your photobucket account, your posts will no longer show the pics.

Crap I just remembered I need to get you your tank for the calcium reactor... On the phone as I type and will put one on hold and pick it up sometime this week...

NO ROOM FOR ANYTHING !!!

NO ROOM FOR ANYTHING !!!

Its a 110 tall, so not much room under with the fuge, he may have to set it beside the tank like Adam did. And I dont have the footprint of the unit he purchased.
