Finally got him eating well. Took a couple of weeks to get him eating. He is a little beat up but color is coming back. One more week in QT. Female eating on day one.

He is at 55F. When he first arrived he was quite spooked and nervous. He beat himself up on top by smacking the eurobrace of the tank and on his belly from rubbing on the bottom. Very skittish which surprised me, though he is setting down. I thought I was going to lose him a couple of times but eating is a start.

He will join two smaller females, a couple of starfish and possibly an urchin or two. I was considering and old wife, but I'm going to hold off.

The tank is 1" acrylic. About 40 gal. Set it up yesterday. I'm hoping it's not too small. If so, I have a 350 gal with a pair of Chain Catsharks that they could join. I don't like mixing sharks and fish though. As for treatment, I will probably treat with febendazole once he starts eating. aggressively. I need to do more research though.

very cool! I've always loved the temperate box and trunk fish. Where were you able to obtain him.

Thx. I've always been interested in the temperate water trunkfish. There are several species from Australia. The toxin they release at death, the need for a chiller and a backup chiller, an insulated tank and the cost have always turned me off. But the tank and one chiller fell into my lap for a great price, I've been dealing g with cold water sharks, and the fact I've had a small female for about 6 months finally made me pull the trigger when this pair was available. I thought the male would die the first night. It was close. I really hope they do well. I'll keep the thread updated.
