My new Arrival! A. Nigripes

Update...There is some interesting behavior going on w/ my 3 clowns...

The baby nigripes seems to have paired up w/ one of the picasso clowns... He has been sleeping w/ one of the picassos and the other picasso sleeps alone...

What is weird is the 2 picassos had paired up before adding the nigripes...During the day, all three stay together...

Also, now I have 3 clowns and none of them have paid any attention to my RBTA. I was kind of hoping the nigripes would show the other's how it is done...

sorry , dont know much about designer clownfish .seen a few pic's of the ugly snowflake mutants but to each is own . if your picassos are a. ocellaris (same for a. nigripes) the rbta is not a natural host anemone . it will take some time before they accept it . my nigripes would not touch the rbta when the h. crispa was in the tank .was after three weeks of not eating , sulking and digging in the area where the h.crispa had been that it went to the rbta . it never interacted as well with the rbta as with the h. crispa . someday i may dedicate a tank for a group of a. nigripes and an h. magnifica . imo having a clownfish with it's natural host anemone is best . my a. polymnus used to dissapear inside the mouth of it's s. haddoni . i should have never replaced the h. crispa (had to get rid of that overgrown aptaisia i mean rbta), it's not the same without an anemone . I curently have a purple tang and two t. clams which are getting big , not much room left for another sebae anemone . with the purple tang (they get large) i don't know how well the tank would handle the bio load of a large anemone . i enjoy a simple setup , dont want sumps and all the other stuff required to support a large bio-load .

the "picasso" are A. Percula. I am not a big fan of the snowflakes either. I know the RBTA is not a natural host in the wild. But the pair of Nigripes in the LFS never leave their RBTA. I have always heard Nigripes are more likely to take to a RBTA than the Percula are.

I'll take some pics of him tonight...

yeah that would be some messed up looking offspring, lol. Last night the sleeping arrangements were back to normal and the Picassos ran the Nigripes out of the bedroom. It is strange how it changes from night to night.

Well I got home from work today ready to take some updated pics and found this. :) Looks like he figured it out!

Awesome! Cute little bugger... Man we do not find any unique or "different" clownfish here in Canada (alberta) , just your typical clownfish selections. Bummer!

wow, this little fish became a tough guy over night...He goes after the percs if they get too close to the BTA and they are backing down even though they are twice his size..

Picasso x Nigripes? Could result in some pretty cool offspring, afterall beauty is in the eye of the beholder is it not?

I agree it would be interesting to see how it turns out but I don't think it's happening now...The Picassos havn't been able to get near him ever since he claimed the anemone as his turf.

you snooze you lose I guess...the RBTA was picked up w/ hopes that the Picassos would move in. No luck, I don't think they will miss it.

My nigs male kicked out a pair of chrysogasters from their haddoni  Do you envision size difference between nigs and gasters? :eek2:

Cujo II is the name.

looks good i hope you'r bta stays as nice as it looks in the pic. mine would grow to 18" before spliting and was very hard on the sps . the coolist rbta i ever saw was in a display tank at that fish place . it was about the size and shape as the one you have only all a transparentish bleached out white with fuchsia colouring 3/4 of the total L. of it's slightly bulbous tip tenticles . the staff said it started out orange and changed colour months before i was there . it was under halides , dont know if that had anything to do with it ( i thought it had bleached ) . haven't been there in at least a year so i dont know what it's like now .

yes , marina p . the chrysogasters grow to clarki proportions (13cm) actually the females get larger at 15cm , well nigrips max at 11cm but usually more like 8-9cm .
