Hey guys
I've just set up a lagoon tank that will be plumbed into the sump of my established main display. I would like to put a few clams in the new lagoon tank. The display is a 90 gal sps reef that has been running for about 6 months now and is doing really well. Naturally I have all the goodies, big skimmer (ASM G-3), calcium reactor (DIY), big fuge, auto top off ect. so I think by plumbing the lagoon tank into the main sump it should be a good home for a clam.
I will be using a 4x 24W t-5 system to light the laggonn tank, so it will have planty of light.
Here are some pics:

Lagoon tank in construction. It is a 23 gallon acrylic tank with a 16 degree tilt on the fron pain. I made it myself

and here she is all set up. Ignoor the light, it is just temporary untill my t-5 fixture arrives.

Currently in the lagoon, i have two tomaro clowns hosting a BTA. It occasionally goes for walks, so I am a little worried about it with a clam, but I can keep my eye on it.

here are my questions:

what kind of clam would you recomend for this kind of system? Ideally i'd like something super colorfull, like a maxima, but what do you think?

Are there any animals (shimp, fish, ect.) that form symbiotic relationships with clams and would be good candidates for the lagoon tank?

do i need to worry about bristle worms?

anything ells?

thanks guys!

looks great!!

just take it slow with what clam you get

even though you are pluging it into another tank, this new tank will change things. get everything in line and wait for a few weeks. then look around for the clam you wont. Derasa' are a great way to get started

indeed I will wait till the tank is good and mature. Shouldn't take too long since it is plumbed right in to the other tank and has plenty of mature LR.

mbbuna- what about gigas or squamosa for this tank? Is there any reason you say dersa is the way to go?...just curious :) Thanks.

Crocea Clams like rockwork, so make sure to have a nice spot to place them, and look for pyramid snails on the clams shell depending on where you get the clam from. Maybe get a sixline wrasse, i have read that they take care of clam pests

I have also read that. I wonder if a four line or an eight line would do the same?

they will both work but at best they will only control them, not eradicate them.

i said Derasa because there are the most forgiving. Gigas will get to big to fast, Squamosa would be fine also

Thanks guys
I think I'm going to go with maxima
The tank it is conected to is doing verry well, so I doubt there would be any problems.
do we think a maxima would do well under t-5 lighting?
I have a 4x 24W (24") fixture from aquamedic coming in, and the tank is only 14 inches deep, so I think there will be plenty of light.

i'm not sure about the aquamedics, but if they have individual reflectors like the icecaps or teks then i would say it would be fine. if not, you might want to place them in the upper third of the tank
